    Close enough?!

Noah Williams and Matty Lee slightly - ever so slightly - falter on their dive and they've lost the lead. Canadians Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray move into gold position by a tiny margin. Just 0.87 points!

Another cracking dive from Ben Cutmore and Kyle Kothari in round four sees them score over 80 points and remain very much in medal contention. They now trail the third-placed Australians by just 0.81 points.

    Women's 400m semi-finals

The aggressive start from Jodie Williams pays off!

The English athlete fades in the final 40m but it is still enough to finish third and qualify automatically for the final.

She crosses the line in 15.98 seconds, which smashes her season best.

It's not enough for her to be the fastest Williams in the race though. That's Sada Williams of Barbados.

The clear favourite, who ran a national record of 49.75 to earn world bronze last month, clocks 51.29 to set up an exciting clash between her and Victoria Ohurougu in the final.

Halfway through. Ben Cutmore and Kyle Kothari play it safe(ish) with a forward 3.5 somersaults, while Noah Williams and Matty Lee go for the tougher back 2.5 somersaults with 2.5 twists.

Williams and Lee get the job done, scoring a massive 84.24 points to stay on top.

Australian duo Domonic Bedggood and Cassiel Rousseau and Canadians Rylan Wiens and Nathan Zsombor-Murray show their class to move into medal positions.

    Women's 400m semi-finals

The second semi-final is going to be a tense watch for Scotland's Zoe Clark, who is currently the fastest non-qualifier.

England's Olympic finalist Jodie Williams, who has had an injury-ruined year, and Scotland’s world 4x400m relay medallist Nicole Yeargin go in this.

Halfway round and Williams has already gone past Yeargin in the lane outside of her.

Has Williams got the legs to see this run through?

How fitting that flagbearer Martin McHugh and Ian McClure, who won gold in 1994 and 1998 (!) are part of the team that help NI secure their greatest-ever Commonwealth Games medal haul.

The men's fours win over Wales means Northern Ireland will leave Birmingham having stood on a minimum of 16 podiums, making the class of '22 the best to ever do it.

    Women's 400m semi-finals

We've seen this before from an English athlete called Ohuruogu.

Superb run by Victoria Ohuruogu, who is patient in the first 200m and accelerates in the final 200m to win comfortably.

She beats her qualifying time by crossing in 51.00 seconds and looks well set for a medal bid in the final.

England's Ama Pipi also qualifies after edging out Scotland's Zoey Clark for third.

Bit of a change-up in this event, with two semi-finals and the top three in each automatically going through.
