English judoka Emma Reid was talking to BBC Sport after winning gold:

"I just it was going to be a scrap because Natalie is such a good fighter, but I knew that I had it in me. I just knew that I was going to enjoy it and I'm glad I won."

What was it like to have a narrow lead to defend?

"You think it's good but it's horrible - you are looking at the clock, I was so glad I had it in the bag and could control it from there. I was just looking over, glancing over to see what I can do what she does."

On coming back after an elbow injury:

"It was before lockdown and I got (back) into it, and then lockdown happened and it gave the injury a chance to heal properly without rushing back in."

On winning in front of a home crowd:

"People don't get to see you often at all, and when you come out and everyone's cheering you it just gives you that boost to win."

Next stop Paris?

"It was good having to experience it, it makes me want to try for the Olympics a lot more. I've got the belief I can beat the best in the world so it's going to be good."

Swimming draws to a close tonight with all four home nations in with a chance of last-gasp gold - there are nine available starting just after 19:00 BST.

England will look to Tokyo champion Reece Dunn in the men's S14 200m freestyle, world champion Ben Proud and British champion Lewis Burras in the men's 50m free, Tom Dean in the 200m individual medley and the men's medley relay.

Scotland have Tokyo silver medallist Duncan Scott in the 200m individual medley, Welsh hopes rest with Medi Harris in the women's 50m backstroke and for Northern Ireland, world champion Bethany Firth - who has postponed her honeymoon until after the Games - is favourite in the women's S14 200m freestyle and could win her team's first gold of the Games.

Team England have been human metal detectors on the judo mat tonight.

Two golds - for Jamal Petgrove and Emma Reid - plus bronzes for Rhys Thompson and Harry Lovell-Hewitt have been uncovered so far.

Now it's time for some gold medals to be dished out!

We've got the women's singles final coming up imminently, as England's Gina Kennedy takes on Canada's Hollie Naughton.

Kennedy has had a meteoric rise in the squash world, thanks to winning seven of her first nine tournaments in 2021. That saw her go from 185th to the top 10 in less than a year and she reached her highest ranking of eighth last month - and now she's guaranteed a Commonwealth medal!

Scotland have taken an early 18-4 lead over Barbados after the first quarter.

The two are sides working so hard that we've even had the mop out to stop a sweaty slipping accident!

Scotland's defence are really challenging Barbados, who are struggling to get the ball into the centre circle.

Barbados have had only five attempts on goal.

It's a fine start for the home nation.

Saurav Ghosal pays tribute to both James Willstrop and Willstrop's late father in his on-court interview.

"He's made me the player I am," Ghosal says.

"He's one of my best friends in life. One of the best people I know."

Not to be for James Willstrop today. He's beaten 3-0 (11-6 11-1 11-4) and India's Saurav Ghosal takes the bronze medal in a pretty emphatic win.

Ghosal - who used to be coached by Willstrop's late father, Malcolm - wins his first individual Commonwealth Games medal.

England's Harry Lovell-Hewitt wins by default after a third penalty for Australia's Kayhan Ozcicek-Takago.

Shido is where a judoka incurs a warning for a variety of infringements, such as not taking grip, not being active enough or stepping out of the competition area.

Three shidos and you're out. That's the fate suffered by the Aussie after coming under intense pressure from Lovell-Hewitt.

Halfway through the four-minute bout and it's tighter than John Cooper Clarke's jeans.

England's Harry Lovell-Hewitt is trying to pile on the pressure and means the Aussie is doing more defending than attacking.

Twice penalised, Ozcicek-Takago has one more life and if he blows that then his opponent will win by the virtue of three shidos.

Another bronze-medal match and another chance for England to get their hands on it.

Why are there two bronzes? Because they are decided by a repechage system.

In each weight category, the four beaten quarter-finalists are paired together in two contests.

The winners of those bouts then compete for bronze against the semi-final loser from the opposite side of the draw.

Got it?

So England's Harry Lovell-Hewitt faces Australia's Kayhan Ozcicek-Takago in a battle of the double-barrelled surnames.

"Come on Rhys!"

Plenty of support from the home crowd as Rhys Thompson settles in.

Thompson builds up pressure against the Fijian, nestles his grip and gets the ippon.

Game over. The bronze medal goes to England!

Another judo match, another chance for a Home Nations medal.

In the blue, Rhys Thompson of England! In the white, Tevita Takayawa of Fiji!

Ding, ding, let's go.

Thompson goes on the front foot and sticks Takayawa on the deck within seconds.

If anybody knows they cannot let up for a minute it is Saurav Ghosal, he knows James Willstrop will not give up. He will continue to come out and fire them in but Ghosal will need to keep those defensive lobs and drops tight. It will be very difficult for Willstrop.

Rachel Tytler could not stop grinning in the mixed zone after her bronze medal. She shared a hug with some team-mates and staff before beaming in every interview.

Not a bad Games debut for the 25-year-old from Glasgow. One Team Scotland member jumped about five feet in the air in celebration when Canada's Coralie Godbout was felled.

Lovely stuff.

He loses the first game 11-6, with India's Saurav Ghosal taking the early advantage.

Ghosal, three years' Willstrop's junior at 35, is chasing his first individual Commonwealth Games medal, having won mixed doubles silver four years ago.

It was a lovely match. She had to hold on then, all the way through the contest but congratulations to Reid because she did a great job against an in-form Powell.
