    Final Australia 161-8 v India 59-2

India are starting to rebuild of the loss of those early wickets.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet Kaur have scored 37 from 32 balls at a gloriously sunny Edgbaston.

Plenty of work to do if they are to get close to that Aussie total, though.

Weird enough to have Jude Gallagher walk out without his gloves for a bout that everyone knows has been called off.

Although I suppose the Tyrone man did deserve his moment in the ring.

Not the way he'd have wanted to win the medal, but it's still been a brilliant tournament for him.

He secured the most eye-catching win of any NI boxer when he beat hometown hero Niall Farrell in the last-16, after catching the eye of Eddie Hearn., external

A big future awaits the 20-year-old.

There were supposed to be four medal bouts tonight, but the day started with Northern Ireland's Jude Gallagher clinching gold without stepping into the ring.

The 20-year-old was awarded victory after his Ghanaian opponent Joseph Commey pulled out with an injury.

It has been a bizarre end to the tournament for Gallagher, who was also handed a walkover in his semi-final.

His Canadian opponent Keoma-Ali Al-Ahmadieh pulled out just 15 minutes before the first bell on Saturday.

Gallagher just gotta roll with it and actually is inside the ring as scheduled at 19:00 BST... wearing his kit, he walks out to great applause and takes the acclaim of the Birmingham crowd for his achievement.

Lovely moment for the youngster, who waves to all corners of the arena and then warmly hugs his proud parents.

    Women's long jump final

England have not won a Commonwealth gold in the long jump since 1998, when Jo Wise triumphed in Kuala Lumpur.

Lorraine Ugen will arrive with plenty of confidence, having won world indoor bronze this year while wearing a kit that she designed and sewed herself.

She also won her first Diamond League event for four years when she triumphed in Stockholm in June.

She's joined by compatriots Jazmine Sawyers, who finished ninth in the recent World Championships, and Abigail Irozuru.

England's Matty Lee speaking to BBC TV: "I am actually really happy with my bronze medal. A moment in that comp I thought I was out of there because there are some great divers in that competition.

"I want to say congratulations to Cassiel [Rousseau]. He is a beast, he is so, so good and it is good that we have that competition.

"It keeps us on our toes, but I am so happy I managed to hang in there, pull it through for a bronze medal. I can't be happier."

    Shafali Verma goes!

Tahlia McGrath takes a steepling catch in the outfield and then instantly signals to her team-mates not to come near her - remember, she tested positive for Covid before the match but has been cleared to play by the ICC and the Games medical staff.

She has to stand a little away from the huddle on her own as Australia celebrate. This has been a good start for the Aussies.

Eilish McColgan is not the only Scot aiming for the top step tonight.

Laura Muir won bronze in the 800m earlier this week, but is competing in her favoured 1500m, where she won Olympic silver last summer.

Tokyo champion Faith Kipyegon of Kenya isn't here to give her issues on the track when the final gets going at 19:20 BST.

But Mary Pearson, a friend of Muir's from north of the border, is here to give her support from the stands.

Mary, now living in Corby, is accompanied by Lee Burns. Lee is draped in the Saltire, but there is a little bit of red and white for his native England under there.

They have also been at the netball, supporting both England and Scotland. The Anglo-Scottish alliance is strong in these two...

India had got off to a good start but they've lost Smriti Madhana for just six in the second over of the chase.

    Finishline

Maybe this pair have been here all week. Maybe they just arrived tonight. But this is certainly the finish - the 14th and final session of athletics at the Alexander Stadium.

The venue, newly redeveloped for the Games, has been baptised with a tidal wave of cheers across the week and some famous victories.

It was never louder than when Eilish McColgan won 10,000m gold on Wednesday night. Tonight she goes for the double in the 5,000m at 19:45 BST.

I hope they tightened the nuts and bolts properly on these new stands, because the atmosphere is going to be more heady than Snoop Dogg's dressing room when it comes to the closing stages of that one.

Bronze medal - England - Matty Leepublished at 18:49 British Summer Time 7 August 2022

    Men's 10m platform final

That incredible dive from Cassiel Rousseau knocks Rylan Wiens into silver, which means it is a bronze medal for England's Matty Lee.

They may be a tinge of disappointment for Lee, but he did wonderfully well to make it onto the podium at all after his below-par second dive saw him tumbling down the leaderboard.

England team-mate Noah Williams finishes seventh just ahead of Wales' Adian Heslop, with Scotland's Angus Menmuir 11th.

Olympic diving silver medallist on BBC TV

Canada's Nathan Zsombor-Murray put the pressure on and compatriot Rylan Wiens responded - he was magical with a monster of a dive. Wow.

Matty Lee makes a play for the podium, though, with 99.9 to go up to bronze-medal position. That was a dive and a half to finish on.

Unfortunately, Noah Williams choked, bombs out in spectacular fashion.

But oh my word, Australia's Cass Rousseau made sure of gold, without a doubt. What a way to do it, with the dive of the Commonwealth Games. Look at that finish. Not any splash at all, even in slow motion.

That is surely good enough for a medal - but what colour?

Matty Lee, Noah Williams and Cassiel Rousseau are still to dive...
