  1. 'This could all blow over'published at 05:50 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

More from Eoin Morgan, speaking to Test Match Special: "Moving forward, it's certainly early in the tournament. If we win our next two or three games, this all blows over.

"It's difficult to take on a personal front, but I'll take it and move on.

"I've always said that it would be a tough ask in the first two games, but given where we want to be in the quarter-finals as our first target, it's still at the forefront of our minds.

"Given the way New Zealand performed as a bowling unit, the boys can put their hands up today and say we were outplayed."

"Batting-wise, this was worse than against Australia. We had three batsmen getting out to yorkers to a medium-fast bowler and they were playing it to the wrong line. Morgan lobs one to the outfield with plenty of overs to go. We're yet to see if the death bowling has improved as the game didn't get that far."

Nick Wall: I understand that a captain has to stand up for his team but that interview by Eoin Morgan is just baffling.

Sam Olsen: That's simply the worst England display I've ever seen, and I've seen a few. Moores must go. I mean, what just happened? Incredible.

Ian Murdey: What an anti-climactic finish ruined by a stupidly placed lunch interval.

  4. 'Tough to take'published at 05:48 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

England captain Eoin Morgan on Test Match Special: "To be honest, winning the toss in what I thought were batting-friendly conditions, it was pretty hard to take after 15 overs when the ball swung for so long and New Zealand kept taking wickets. After I was out, the ball continued to swing and with the expectation to get 270, it was quite difficult to cope with.

"The bowling unit is the best we've come across in this hemisphere since January and being that we've faced Australia, that's quite a compliment. They've performed out of their skin against us and that's quite tough to take."

  5. 'Incredible performance'published at 05:47 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum: "It was an incredible performance. We wanted to bat first too and it shows the ability of our bowlers to get swing through the air.

"We have got some guys on the sidelines too, so we're lucky we've got this strength in depth. The crowd were amazing and the guys enjoyed playing in front of a big crowd. We've had a huge first week in the tournament and now we can regroup.

"I might have a quiet beer in the changing room now."

"There was opportunity of a good pitch and we folded. If we're going to make a fist of this tournament, I want to be able to say 'well done England'. But, how do I say something praise-worthy about that or the Australia game? I can't lie about it. Stop telling us that everything's alright, because it isn't."

  7. 'We need a win'published at 05:45 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2015

England captain Eoin Morgan: "I thought New Zealand bowled really well. Conditions suited them - it swung throughout our innings which was unexpected. Credit to them, they built pressure. Our first two games were always going to be tough, we need a win as soon as possible now. In terms of form, having some time at the wicket helped me today. Batting in those conditions and trying to get 270 plus was tough."

"Morgan's shot was poor. He'd just got in and got a partnership going and then he tried to hit the spinner over the top into the outback and he just lobbed a catch up. There was so much time still left in the innings and it was unnecessary."

"If I was captain, I'd try not to get in the position where I have to answer these questions. It's up to me as a leader to make sure I don't get in those positions. I'd like to hear Eoin Morgan put his hand up and tell us how they could all get out for that score on that pitch."

Man of the match Tim Southee, who took 7-33: "We've bowled well as a group for some time and that was one of those days where it all clicked. It's a pretty good performance.

"We set the tone from the start after losing the toss and the way Brendon played just shows the confidence around the group at the moment.

"It swung around even with the old ball. We've played some good cricket in the first two games and today was even more convincing. It's a team game and it's just another good bowling performance. You always want to get better and improve your game somehow, so there's always work to be done."

New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum: "It's a great win. While England have probably struggled of late, we knew we'd have to keep them quiet.

"Tim's was one of the best spells of bowling I've seen for a long time. Tim's been leading our group for a long time and, with Trent Boult, he got the ball swinging a huge amount. To win by that sort of margin, it's bizarre really. We've earned ourselves a good break after a great first week of the tournament."

New Zealand's Tim Southee is named man of the match after taking 7-33: "A packed house was pretty special to come out in front of. We've been bowling well as a group for a long time and today was one of those moments when it all went well for us. Our coach, Shane Bond, does a lot of work behind the scenes and puts confidence into us. We've got some time off to rest now after three games in a week."
