And that's it. Morne Morkel finishes the innings by seeing off Sohail Khan for three as South Africa dismiss Pakistan for 222 from 46.4 overs.

The run-chase will be subject to some Duckworth-Lewis calculations because of the rain earlier on and will start in around 10 minutes.

The dark brown wicket we're playing on in Hobart is already showing signs of wear and tear. Spinner Sikander Raza is aiming for the footmarks outside the left-hander's off stump and there are clear white markings on a length where the shine has transferred from the ball. Four from the over.

Prashant Srivastava:, external Had Pakistan looked at the D/L at the rain break they'd have realised that keeping wickets in hand was more sensible than scoring big.

"I think this is as good as South Africa could have expected given how well Pakistan were going earlier in their innings. They will be very happy with the way they have bowled at the death and, in particular, the way that Imran Tahir has come back. His first three overs were rubbish."

The outstanding Dale Steyn takes his third wicket, dismissing Rahat Ali for one thanks to fine running catch from mid-off by Imran Tahir. Pakistan nine down for 221 at the end of the 46th over. Steyn finishes with 3-30 from his 10 overs, with three maidens.

  6. Ire 146-2 (Joyce 81, Balbirnie 22)published at 05:30 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2015

Ed Joyce is so good on the back foot. Yet again, he rocks back on a short ball and pulls it into the stands at cow corner. A young lad tried to catch that in the crowd, showing some incredible hang time as he appeared from nowhere and narrowly missed out on taking the catch of the World Cup. It would have been that good.

"It's been a long tournament with a lot of down time. Even if you're in good nick, you wait a week and your good form can disappear and that seemed to have been the case with Ed Joyce, but he has found a way to make a score."

  8. Ire 137-2 (Panyangara 7-0-36-1)published at 05:24 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2015

Tinashe Panyangara better stay away from his skipper for a little while. He's brought back into the attack, sends down a no-ball first up which is smashed for four by Ed Joyce and then bowls the left-hander from the sub subsequent free hit. Balbirnie weights in with a chipped two into the off side. Ten in total from the over.

There's just no stopping Dale Steyn. Misbah-ul-Haq tries to steer a short, sharp ball for six but Morne Morkel, right on the boundary rope, takes a well-judged catch at third man. The captain departs for 56 and his Pakistan side are 218-8 from 43.5 overs.

Zimbabwe are rattling through the overs in this middle period. Another set of six from Raza and it brings just two singles.

Spinner Imran Tahir traps Wahab Riaz leg before wicket but the batsman goes for a review. However, with the ball keeping low and hitting off stump, umpire's call wins the day and there's no reprieve from a dismal duck and off Riaz goes.

Just two runs off the 43rd over and Pakistan are 214-7. Only four more overs to come now that the match has been reduced to 47 per side because of the rain.

  12. Ire 125-2 (run-rate: 4.62)published at 05:17 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2015

It's spin from both ends now. Slow left-armer Sean Williams is going round the wicket and Balbirnie sweeps for four - the boy knows where the middle of the bat is. He does, however, almost chip a return catch to the bowler who can't quite get his hands beneath the low chance.

"It's interesting that Balbirnie has been moved up the order. I think coach Phil Simmons wanted a left-hand-right-hand combination and to rotate the strike a bit more."

  14. Ire 117-2 (Joyce 65, Balbirnie 10)published at 05:14 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2015

Thanks Jamie. Time for Ireland to step on the gas? Yep... the moment I type that Ed Joyce leans back and heaves Raza over mid-wicket for six. The pitch-side sponsor's car almost copped it there.

Nice foot movement from Joyce. Skipping down the track with shades of compatriot Michael Flatley, I wonder if he ever played? Straight back over the head of Williams and we need some more of those. One of my favourite shots. Here to take you through the remainder of the innings is the assured Mr Marc Higginson.

  16. Ire 101-2 (partnership 22)published at 05:10 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2015

Joyce records fifty from 62 balls and the Ireland 100 when the third umpire deems Panyangara made contact with the boundary rope with his somewhat cumbersome attempt on the third man fence.

Shahid Afridi smashes Dale Steyn for six but then is out next ball after flaying at a short ball into the body and hitting right up in the air for JP Duminy to hold at deep square-leg. Steyn has 1-29 from eight overs now and Pakistan are 212-6 from 42 overs.

  19. Ire 87-2 (Joyce 40, Balbirnie 5)published at 05:03 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2015

Hamilton Masakadza is the sixth bowler used. He's barrel chested but clocking around 118k's, which is low 70s mph-wise and the keeper is up to the stumps. Only a handful of singles conceded in his opening over though.

"The players were not only greeted by a cheer, but also the sight of some sunshine. It's much brighter than it was, so we shouldn't have any interruptions for a while. We might see Shahid Afridi bat the majority of these overs to make it a good contest."
