England captain Charlotte Edwards, on TMS: "You get used to the rain in England. It's just about relaxing and making sure we're ready when we can get out there. I've heard a whisper that we might be starting at 12:30 but nothing is confirmed yet."

Australia captain Meg Lanning, on TMS: "It's frustrating that it's raining but we can make up the time. To recover from 95-5 to 268 was a great effort by our middle and lower order. We feel the Test is finely poised at the moment."

I wonder if there's any games of dressing-room cricket being played by the England and Australia teams while they wait to resume battle?

I do like an impromptu game of cricket. Office cricket is good too.

Let's get the country playing office cricket, with whatever you can get your hands on. Send in your pics to #bbccricket, external and we'll publish the best ones.

  7. More rain on the way?published at 11:29

BBC Weather's Simon King:"Showers will clear away from Canterbury very soon so it’s an improving picture with it likely to stay dry during the afternoon. It will however stay quite cloudy and a little humid with a maximum temperature of about 20°C.

"During Thursday morning we’re keeping a close eye on some heavy, thundery showers moving in from the Channel which have the potential to give some torrential downpours and minor flooding issues. The showers should then clear away so during the middle part of the day will be dry. However, there’s a risk of more thunderstorms moving in by late afternoon/evening."

  10. Haddin flies homepublished at 11:19

Just quickly diverting to the men's Ashes, it's been confirmed that Brad Haddin has returned to Australia for family reasons. No replacement has been named yet, but Matthew Wade is already scheduled to play in the ODI series so he could get an earlier-than-expected call.

    More on that here.

England bowler Kathryn Brunt, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was an exciting time when we reduced Australia to 95-5 yesterday and it lifted us massively. It's unfortunate we couldn't continue the momentum and finish the tail off. Bowling on it though, it is a nice wicket. We had to graft and we earned our wickets so there are runs to be had for our batters."

  16. Weather updatepublished at 11:00

Good news... it seems that the rain has stopped falling in Canterbury. There's still a mopping up job to do, but hopefully we'll get some play soon. It's a muggy morning, meaning the ball should swing.

  17. Superb Shrubsolepublished at 10:59

Journalist Melinda Farrell on TMS: "As an Australian, I was happy about how it panned out yesterday. It was an interesting day to watch as the game ebbed and flowed. I thought the bowling from Anya Shrubsole was superb, she really ripped the guts out of the Australian top order."

  18. 'An even day'published at 10:58

England bowler Anya Shrubsole spoke to BBC Test Match Special last night and was in a positive mood: "It's probably an even day and both teams will be happy. In an ideal world we would've liked to have picked up the last two wickets but Jess played brilliantly.

"We're relatively happy and hopefully we can take the last two wickets early on. There are a few tired bodies but this is what we do the training for. If a number 10 can play like that then it shows it's clearly not a bad track."

Morning all. Hope everyone is well. I have bad news... it looks like we're in for a delayed start. But, fingers crossed, the showers above Canterbury will be gone soon enough.
