Arjun Singh: Clever tactic by England. Let Gayle smash himself into an injury to be ruled out of the series.

  13. 'It's up to England's batsmen to make up for it'published at 19:19 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

    Simon Mann
    BBC Sport in Barbados

England's bowling has gone round the park in a few games over the past 12 months. It is clearly their weakest suit - they showed it in Edinburgh, Dunedin and Colombo last year, and have shown it again here today.

Now it's up to the batsmen to make up for it.

Seekkuge Prasanna dropped Sharma on 201 later in that record knock, so maybe Perera would argue his spill should 'only' have cost 197 runs...

We were asking earlier for your tales of expensive drops after Jason Roy shelled a chance to remove Chris Gayle for just nine.

That spill cost 126 runs but it's nowhere near the most costly drop in ODI history.

That unwanted honour belongs to Sri Lanka's Thisara Perera, who dropped India's Rohit Sharma on four during an ODI in 2014.

Sharma went on to blast a world record 264...Ouch.

  16. 'We can't relax'published at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

More from Chris Gayle: "It's a good wicket and the ball is going come on to the bat well. The new ball is going to be key for us, to see if we can get early wickets.

"I've been getting cramps but hopefully I can get back on the park and help us get the win.

"I'm confident with the total but we can't relax or take it for granted - England are world number ones and have great all-rounders and great strikers of the ball."

  19. 'In life it's not how you start, it's how you finish'published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2019

West Indies opener Chris Gayle, who hit 135, on Sky Sports: "It's one of my best innings because I haven't started like that before.

"It took me a while to get my first boundary but in life it's not how you start, it's how you finish.

"I used a bit of experience to know which bowler [Moeen Ali] to target at what time.

"The England bowlers used their variations well but then Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer came in and took the pressure off me."
