Trent Rockets coach Stephen Fleming:"I'm still listening to people now about who to pick as the first pick. You can pick 20-30 different teams beforehand and it may still not go to plan."

Jamie Raynor: So far, so good - they've certainly pulled together the great & the good of the game to put this show on the road. You get the feeling many will be after Rashid Kahn as their first pick - I still reckon an Aus player will be Lehmann's.

A very quick reminder of how it all works.

I mean, Mitchell Starc is the obvious first pick, surely?

England Test captain Joe Root and fast bowler Jofra Archer have just been asked who their first pick would be:

Jofra Archer: "Andre Russell or Mitchell Starc for me."

Joe Root: "There's some very good mystery spinners in the draft, so it will be interesting to see who people go for first."

I think teams will be looking for players that perform well in all three facets. They might have an off day with the bat but still produce a moment of brilliance in the field. They could win you a game.

  18. Who are the most expensive players?published at 18:57 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

These six players are the most expensive picks in the draft.

I guess the only slightly surprising one is Steve Smith - he's the best Test batsman in the world but in a shorter length game, I wouldn't have him on the same level as Chris Gayle and David Warner.

If teams are smart, they'll snap Mitchell Starc up first. The best death bowler in the business and he's handy with the bat when needs me.

There's some serious talent in the lower price brackets. If you come in and perform you don't know what it may lead to in terms of the IPL and Big Bash. Young England cricketers will be watching the TV thinking what this may mean for my career.

English cricket has been crying out for this for a long time.

  20. Ones to watchpublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 20 October 2019

    Adam Williams
    BBC South

Keep an eye on top-order batsman Will Jacks at Surrey.

He has already grabbed a few headlines in the past for making rapid centuries and hits the ball very cleanly and powerfully once he gets going.

Another that might potentially come into the reckoning as a bit of a utility player is Derbyshire's Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

He proved to be a very useful part of their run to the Blast semi-finals with his medium-pacers and lower-order batting.
