Sam Curran with the last over before lunch...

In the 1980s I went to Kidderminster as a youngster to watch Worcestershire. Ian Botham made someone bring him a chair and he sat and autographed for about 45 minutes. Legend. John Morris told me if he signed for me he would have to sign for everyone.

The England fans clap in unison, Ben Stokes joins in from second slip. They cheer as Anderson runs in, but Malan spoils any sense of anticipation with the front-footed defence that we have already seen umpteen times. England might need a digger to remove him.

I think Joe Root wants James Anderson to bowl from this end but also wants Stuart Broad to bowl from this end as well, hence why Sam Curran took the new ball.
Here's James Anderson. He's switched to the Wynberg End, so has the crack to aim at. This may be the world's most talked about crack, but it hasn't done anything naughty for a while.

When I was about 10 or so a group of us at Northampton asked Geoffrey Boycott for his autograph. He said, 'after the match'. I told my mother this, who is from Yorkshire. End of the match 20 of us queued by his car, Boycott said he didn't have time, my mother took his keys and leant on the door and told him you promised these lads after the game. He got his car keys back after he signed everyone's book.

No sign of movement yet for the younger Curran brother. It's all angled across Malan from left-arm over, with nothing coming back towards the right-hander. Did they pick the right ball out of the box? Can they send it back? Maybe two more overs before lunch.

Sam has not bowled a great amount of overs in the second innings. They should've gone back to Jimmy and Broady.
SA 167-4
The new ball is removed from its clear plastic bag. It won't be Broad or Anderson, but Sam Curran. He's not been seen all morning. Swing?

Newlands not totally full today. But the grass banks are rammed again as spectators enjoy the Cape Town sunshine. The England fans out number the locals today with many making the most of their last day in South Africa before returning to the cold of the UK.
Toby Tarrant was talking about the live text on his Radio X breakfast show this morning. Got me very excited as I was driving to work. Stokes has Van der Dussen hoping around, staring hard at the batsman at the end of his follow-through. Van der Dussen, not wanting to talk, has a wander to short leg. Eighty overs complete. New ball?

Which blue tick celebrity got in touch for the Faf wicket to fall?

Almost a hint of a misjudgment from Malan, who leaves one off Bess that comes back more than he expected. When it hits the back leg, England appeal, but it's still not doing enough to hit the stumps. With the new ball due, that might be the end of Bess for a little while. Either that, or England will wait until after lunch.
Pieter Malan remains. How England would love to remove him. Quinton de Kock next. A fine player, but not one you associate with saving Test matches. Rassie van der Dussen got plenty of earache in the first innings and he's already getting some advice from Ben Stokes. The new ball is due in two overs.

Matthew Neve: Denly didn’t do a Denly!!! Get in!
Bloody Bishop: Good old safe hands Denly.
Target 438
Du Plessis couldn't have picked out Denly more perfectly if he had thrown it to him. There are tweets coming in referencing Denly's drop in New Zealand. He's actually got a brilliant pair of hands. Remember that catch during the Lord's Ashes Test off Tim Paine? Rassie van der Dussen is the new man.

What a gimme that was with the new ball just around the corner. Amazing that Faf du Plessis should get out in that way. Perfect timing for England.
Phil Tufnell
Ex-England spinner on The Cricket Social
A lovely bit of bowling. That's happened because they brought silly point in so he can't just risky tapping it into the off side in defence. So Du Plessis takes on the sweep and picks out the man.
Du Plessis c Denly b Bess 19 (SA 164-4)
Huge moment!
A massive wicket for England, gifted to them by the South Africa skipper.
Faf du Plessis aims a sweep at Dom Bess, but he's not over the ball and finds Joe Denly at a strange square leg/mid-wicket position.
From nothing, England have an opening before the second new ball.
