Tim Barraclough: First county cricket game I ever saw aged 10 at Eastbourne and the impossibly huge Tony Greig blocked my view when he was fielding on the boundary. Didn't have the nerve to ask him to move.

Right at the start of the day we asked for your tales of England legends in county fixtures. Tim correctly here deciding not to get on the wrong side of Greig

I said earlier some sides would have a tough day in the dirt... this is a case in point.

Any slim hopes Northants had of victory might have just gone.

Ricardo Vasconcelos, who looked so good before tea, is dismissed by Josh Davey straight after the interval. The left-hander is squared up and an edge flies to second slip.

Can Somerset wrap it up inside two days? They need another six wickets.

  16. Bohannon leads the waypublished at 16:08 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Durham 180 v Lancashire 199-5 - tea

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Newcastle

23-year-old Josh Bohannon has led the way for Lancashire and has helped them to a smallish lead of 19 runs on day two in Chester-le-Street.

He's faced 165 balls for his 64. It's the fifth time he has reached 50 in first-class cricket. And barring one loud shout for lbw in the late morning session, his time in the middle has been relatively trouble free.

Earlier he added 56 for the third wicket with skipper Dane Vilas and his partnership with Steven Croft for the fifth was 48.

George Balderson, playing in his second game, was dropped in the slips when on none. He now has 11.

Meanwhile Chester-le-Street's long wait for the first batting point of 2020 will be over shortly after tea. Some time around 4.20pm on 9 August. Strange times indeed.

The players come back out at Grace Road.

With the first ball after tea paceman Jamie Porter bowls Laurie Evans via an inside edge. It's Porter's fourth wicket.

Surrey still trail by 126 with only four wickets in hand.

  19. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Essex 262 v Surrey 136-5

They're coming back out after the tea break at Chelmsford.

This one is right in the balance after Simon Harmer removed Will Jacks for 70 just before the interval.

  20. Tea at Northantspublished at 16:00 British Summer Time 9 August 2020

    Northants 104-3 (target 322) v Somerset

    And that is indeed tea.

A good half hour or so for Northants there has given them a bit of a sniff of victory.

You feel they can't lose any more than one or two wickets after tea though.
