Good news from NW8 before we start this third day.

Some sunshine and blue sky above Lord's after we had a bit of light rain and dark cloud earlier this morning.

Still definitely not on the warm side as the bobble hats and body warmers on the players and coaches in the warm-up will testify, but fingers crossed we will get all the allotted overs in.

So, what happened on day two?

It was very much a day of two halves, in between more rain interruptions.

Eddie Byrom (117) and Craig Overton's (66) sixth-wicket stand of 127 took Somerset to 266-5 after tea, but Essex ran through the tail with the new ball - taking the last five wickets for 35 runs.

Seamer Sam Cook starred with the ball, taking 5-76.

It's set the game up nicely with Essex set to begin their first innings shortly.
