There have been two captain's innings here in Cardiff – one from England’s Test skipper Joe Root, who has 75, and another from Yorkshire’s Steven Patterson, who has 34 batting at number 10.

Play started at 13:10 BST after some overnight rain and further showers this morning, and we seemed to be in for a repeat of yesterday’s wicket-fest as Michael Neser completed his five-fer when he removed both Dom Bess (20) and 19-year-old Harry Duke for a golden duck on debut.

Since then, though, both Root and Patterson have been in control as Glamorgan struggled to make an impact with an older ball. The pair have added 74 for the ninth wicket and thankfully it’s looking like we won’t have any more rain here today.

A twelfth first-class half-century for Jack Burnham who is helping Durham towards a very healthy lead.

It doesn't seem like the hosts have slowed down one bit since centurion Will Young's wicket 20 minutes ago.
