    It's not Olly Stone's responsibility whatsoever but that rather sums up just how pathetic England's second innings has been.

    Perfect line from Trent Boult first up, a bit of movement off the wobbled seam and Stone nicks it behind for a comfortable catch by keeper Tom Blundell.

    It took one ball for New Zealand to finish off England's innings this morning.

    One. Ball.

    The England players just don't seem to read the situation that they are in. They didn't come out in the second innings and get stuck in.

    When the pressure comes on this fragile England batting line up, they don't step up to the plate.

    You can't help but feel for the 10,000 or so that have tickets for what should have been a glorious day of Test cricket.

    Fans - even some in fancy dress - were entering the ground just after 9am. They are plenty in their seats well ahead of play starting.

    They will get a full refund if we have fewer than 15 overs and the football will be on the big screen later, but that's not really the point, is it?

  15. It's also clear New Zealand have more strength in depth than England in Test cricket at the moment, which should particularly concern the ECB.

    A team without Kane Williamson, BJ Watling and Tim Southee are about to easily beat an England team, who are admittedly without Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer. But it's the margin of the upcoming defeat that should worry England.

  16. England head coach Chris Silverwood told BBC Sport last night that New Zealand have shown what it takes to be the number one Test team and he hopes his players have taken what they've seen on board.

    The tourists have been superb - showing the right application and discipline with the bat to grind out scores even when facing some seriously good bowling.

    And then with the ball they've nagged away in the right areas, backing themselves to keep testing the England batters with a full length and just enough movement, while their slip cordon has been near flawless.

    It's very clear why they are in next week's World Test Championship final against India.

    Having fought their way back into the game with the ball to trail by 85 runs after the first innings, England woefully collapsed to 122-9 by the close yesterday.

    They lead by just 37 runs and it'll be a shock to see today's play last a full session.
