There has been lots of talk about the overseas players, mostly the ones that haven't been able to make it.

But, for domestic players like Threlkeld, getting the chance to perform at big grounds, under big pressure, is also very important.

Oval Invincibles all-rounder Mady Villiers: "When all the fireworks went off at the beginning I had to take a minute and reflect because it was amazing.

"It was great to get that six away. To be fair, Ecclestone usually comes up trumps against me! But I will let her know every now and then, I'm sure! It went quite far, didn't it?! I never usually hit it that far.

"I just wanted to make the most of the opportunity and I really enjoyed it, I hope that showed."

Match Hero and Oval Invincibles captain Dane van Niekerk: "It's been a tough 12 months, injury wise, and I was really nervous. It was my first competitive match since the World Cup. But I put in a lot of work and I was glad I pulled through for the team.

"Credit to Marizanne Kapp and Mady Villiers, they upped the rate and made my life easier. They understood I might not always run twos and they found the boundaries.

"When Kapp came to the crease, I said to her that we were in trouble, absolute trouble, and I was a bit nervous. But I said to her it was a great track and if we play good shots we could get value for them.

"I had so much fun, it's a great tournament to be a part of."

The fact that Oval Invincibles have won that game from being 12-3 makes it even more remarkable.

The young players watching that innings from Dane van Niekerk will have learned so much about batting under pressure.

Manchester Originals captain Kate Cross: "What a night. I don't think we can be too disheartened coming off the pitch with an atmosphere like that. Obviously we're disappointed not getting over the line but what a night.

"I thought they batted brilliantly in the circumstances. It was a great night for the Oval girls on their home pitch.

"If we look back, we could have been tighter with the bowling lines and taken our catches but you have to consider the nerves, it's the biggest and loudest crowd I've ever played in front of, including international cricket."

That really was great fun. What a start to the tournament and the crowd has been fantastic. You could just see so clearly how much the players were loving it. Everyone had smiles on their faces the whole time, as if they couldn't believe they were there!

The next few weeks are going to be pretty decent if that's anything to go by.

Captain Dane van Niekerk finishes with 52 not out and she raises her helmet and gloves to salute the crowd. That was wonderful.

And a gem of an innings from Mady Villiers who did not seem to feel any pressure at all.
