Jack Rule: The no-ball taking the ball in front of the stumps has always been a mad one. Making it a free hit is even worse, punishes the bowler for something that isn’t their fault!
Katherine Brunt paddles the ball over her head and ends up sat down on the floor, but still manages to get an unlikely four.
Keeper Ellie Threlkeld takes the ball in front of the stumps off Alex Hartley, which means a no-ball and a free hit for the Rockets - but they can only get a single from it.

It feels like batters are keen to take Hartley on. With someone like Ecclestone, you accept that you might only get a run a ball, whereas they seem to want to go after Hartley.
Heather Graham chips the ball back just over the head of bowler Emma Lamb, who is fingertips away from taking a caught and bowled.
The momentum has gone from the Rockets' innings, and here comes Alex Hartley with two wickets to her name already.
No prizes for guessing where Sammy Jo-Johnson hit her four sixes earlier...

The body language from the Manchester Originals - it's almost like they've been freed up by not having to worry about qualifying. They are enjoying their cricket.

It feels like a weight has been lifted off the Originals shoulders. But it is something they will have to address, being able to perform when it counts.

Sciver is very, very disappointed. She knows she could have made a big contribution.
Sciver c Ecclestone b Cross 13 (Spirit 60-3)
Nat Sciver was looking dangerous but she's gone! She could not get enough power on a drive to leg and Sophie Ecclestone took a simple catch low down in front of her.
Sciver is fuming!

It was a length ball that was nice enough for the batter to step and swing and get their arms through it. She has timed that so well.
Hannah Jones is welcomed back by a scorching drive through the off side from Nat Sciver, who latches on to a juicy full toss.
Two wickets off 10 balls, and just 12 runs conceded - impressive stuff from Alex Hartley.

Johnson will be really annoyed with herself. She whacked her pads straight away - she's gone just as she was getting going. She didn't get underneath that ball to get it over Emma Lamb.
Johnson c Lamb b Hartley 33 (Rockets 48-2)
Gone!
Johnson heaves at Hartley, but it goes head high and straight to Emma Lamb at midwicket.
"Yeah!! Come on!!" screams Alex Hartley in celebration.
See my previous entry - that was the same again from Johnson, if not bigger!
The rope is in a long way on that side of the ground, but that flew into the stands again.
