Time for us to call it a day.

I'll leave you with Matt Henry's report as West Indies wrapped up a 10-wicket win before lunch on day four to take the three-Test series 1-0. The scorecard is also here, and there will be a Test Match Special podcast available to download later.

There are now 67 days until England men next play - the opening Test of the summer against New Zealand at Lord's from 2 June. Who will be England's coach? Who will be England's captain? We'll find out.

There's plenty of cricket before then though - with the Women's World Cup reaching the knockout stages with England playing South Africa from 02:00 BST on Thursday morning. The County Championship also starts a week on Thursday, while we'll have regular Indian Premier League commentaries throughout April and May. You'll be able to find it all on the BBC Sport Live Guide.

See you soon and take care!

  2. 'I would certainly take the job'published at 17:33 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

Interim head coach Paul Collingwood to BT Sport: "Any decision about James Anderson and Stuart Broad returning will be a decision for the new coach. A lot is going to happen and change before the summer. The new director will decide a structure and what coaches we want in place and then they'll make the decisions. Jimmy and Broady bring great quality and they'll be a handful in English conditions.

"I've enjoyed the last few weeks. I feel like there's been a really good response from the players. There will be emotion and disappointment from this series and result. I wanted to make a difference in this series and hopefully the players in the changing room feel there has been a change.

"I would certainly take the job if they decided they want me to do it. I have definitely enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

"The one thing you notice in the changing room is that they are together and they are right behind Joe. If I was stood here and didn't think that there would be a problem. Joe still has that determination to continue and take the team forward. It doesn't affect his batting and he's still desperate to take this team forward."

The end of the term report for England won't read well.

Joe Root will be disappointed with his average of 38 over the winter. Jonny Bairstow will be delighted with his 46 but there isn't a lot else. Ben Stokes averages 26, Zak Crawley 29.

The numbers are not pretty. Ben Foakes averaging 19, Haseeb Hameed 10, Rory Burns 12 and Ollie Pope 11.

  4. 'We are going over old ground'published at 17:32 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

England captain Joe Root asked by Jonathan Agnew about the omissions of James Anderson and Stuart Broad from the tour: "We are going over old ground here, we’ve spoken enough about that if I’m being honest. You could say that about the two injured players as well [Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson] – they could have been very useful on that wicket, a 90mph bowler in Woody and someone with Robbo’s skill, I think you could also look at that.

"The one thing we have got from this trip is we have seen two young debutants come in [Saqib Mahmood and Alex Lees] and show a lot of promise and they are at the start of an exciting journey."

  5. 'Langer would be my choice as head coach'published at 17:27 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

    Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BT Sport

I would personally go for Justin Lanager - he's the sort of leader that England need at the moment. Then it is a conversation with Joe Root to see if he's still got the energy to take England forward and even then I'd debate it.

You could give it to Ben Stokes to the end of next year's Ashes and then hope that a younger player like Zak Crawley is ready.

  6. 'We didn't manage the conditions well enough'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

England captain Joe Root speaking to BBC Sport: “I don’t think you can say this was a good wicket for batting, but we just didn’t suss it out at all nobody got themselves in apart from Alex at the top of the order. It was hard to score fluently on, even Josh for them who made a brilliant hundred, it was never a free-flowing surface. But we didn’t manage it well enough and that’s the frustration. That’s what we have to learn.

“We found ourselves in a pressure situation in the first game and we found a way out of it and that was a positive step forward for us but we didn’t get it right yesterday. They are the moments that if you are going to turn promising games and nearly games into victories that you have got to get right and we have got to do that better.

“It’s a big frustration. We have put so much into this trip and I think our attitude has been exceptional – you can see it is clear as day there has been a big shift forward in a number of areas. It is a body blow what happened yesterday but we have to take it on the chin and learn and not forget a lot of the good things we have done until now.”

  7. 'England may go further backwards before going forwards'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

    Michael Vaughan
Former England captain on BT Sport

Let Joe Root sleep on it for a week or so. I fear this red-ball team might go further backwards before it goes forward and you’re going to have to have a lot of energy as a leader, a captain you’re going to have to have a huge amount of energy to wake up every morning to captain this side.

Generally in England conditions the Test match team win lots of games of cricket, win lots of series – well last summer they lost to New Zealand and they’re losing to India, so I don’t see this Test match side suddenly becoming a team that consistently wins series after series and that’s in English conditions. So Joe’s going to have to find a huge amount of energy and he’s also going to have to improve, because tactically in this game he was a long way short. The England side was a long way short.

I don’t see too many players, out of this England Test match team bubble, who can suddenly come in and spark England into getting 450 consistently against the better opposition, when the ball's moving about, and that’s why I do think there could be some darker days ahead and it’s going to take a leader with a lot of energy to try and get this Test match team right.

  8. 'I’m still very passionate about taking this team forward'published at 17:18 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

England captain Joe Root speaking to BBC Sport: “I’m still very passionate about taking this team forward. I feel there’s the support of the dressing room behind me and I’m desperate to see them smile and celebrating because we don’t feel that far away. That’s an easy thing to say and it’s probably a frustration for a lot of people to hear but I’m very passionate taking it forward and hopefully that will be the case."

Asked directly whether he wants to carry on as captain: “I’ve made that quite clear – all that I can control is what’s in my power and in my hands and I will do whatever I can in whatever capacity to help England win games of cricket and that will never change.”

There are some players who have emerged from this tour with credit - Alex Lees, Saqib Mahmood, Matt Fisher, Dan Lawrence - even Ben Stokes, whose confidence has returned.

  10. 'It's a bitter pill to swallow'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

England captain Joe Root speaking to BBC Sport: “It is a punch to take because for the majority of this series we have played so much good cricket.

“It’s been a hard-fought series and we have gone toe-to-toe. Yesterday was a really frustrating day to take because the guys have worked so hard and done so much good stuff throughout and some poor decision making and, at times a lack of skill, has probably just let us down when we really needed to stand up.

“That’s the frustration and that’s something we have to keep looking to learn from. We made some big steps forward in a number of areas in the first two games and that’s the bitter pill we have to swallow and we have to keep looking to learn from.”

It was fitting that Kraigg Brathwaite was there at the end - he's been exceptional.

He dug in for his side in the first two Tests and he managed to win the toss this week and make the most of it.

It is a fantastic series victory for West Indies.

  12. 'Batting is the only thing he does slowly'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

    Carlos Brathwaite
West Indies all-rounder on BT Sport

Kraigg Brathwaite is cool, calm - everyone sees how he bats, so slow and you could say boring but that is the only thing he does slowly. He loves fast cars, he loves horses and when he first took over the captaincy he wanted everything to happen immediately. Everybody had a shelf-life with the ball in hand, but over the years we have seen his maturity grow.

Off the pitch, he is still a prankster and loves a laugh but on the pitch you can see there is a lot more leeway for players to make mistakes and retain his support.

He is a multi-faceted person and as a leader he has grown tremendously.

He wants to be scoring runs and leading with the bat and pulling everyone along with him.

  13. 'Every game someone raised their hand'published at 17:03 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite: "We decided this was one of our best series at home and we have to fight hard. We put in a lot of work. Every game someone raised their hand and did the job. The effort was remarkable."

The only thing I would say West Indies need to improve is being able to pivot throughout the day. At the start of a day and session they have clear plans - but when Jack Leach and Saqib Mahmood were having their partnerships they had plan A and B and then went back to plan A when it didn't work.

  15. Player of the match - Joshua da Silvapublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

Player of the match Joshua da Silva: "The emotion is still there - 100%. I've dreamt of this moment and hopefully it isn't the last time I win this award!

"I wanted to trust my tailenders - all the credit goes to them. I can't thank them enough. It is because of them that I've won this award.

"It was challenging keeping in this series and I would give myself a poor mark for my keeping - it is something I take pride in and I've conceded too many byes."

  16. 'I feel like the group are behind me'published at 16:54 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

England captain Joe Root on BT Sport: "The immediate thought is frustration because of how it's finished. We have played some really good cricket throughout and shown what we're capable of. We've grown over the two games and shown a lot as a batting unit. Yesterday we let ourselves down and we didn't stand up to it well enough and it has left us in this position where we've lost after playing so much brilliant cricket.

"We've got to show more frequently, like we did on the first day of the tour, people standing up and us getting to a total more frequently. We've shown we can do it - that's the frustration. That first day of the tour was some of the most tricky conditions we've had - we didn't stand up yesterday.

"I thought the attitude throughout the whole tour has been brilliant - in that respect we've made many improvements. That has to continue. There's so much we can take away from this - it's frustrating not to win because we came here to do that but we can take away some of the things from the approach. We've had three debutants have shown plenty and they've got stuff to take away from it.

"I've made it quite clear at the start of this game and tour that I want to take this team forward. I don't think it's ever in your hands and I feel like the group are behind me. We're doing quite a lot of good things - we just need to turn that into results now."

The outcome of this match, and therefore the series, highlighted the gamble to leave behind the two best bowlers in the country. Despite the advance made by one or two bowlers, the decision cannot be viewed as having been a success.

Mark: That’s that for Root as skipper, should have gone after ashes but clung on due to lack of alternatives but it’s time for a change. As for the next coach, how do you start sorting out this mess?

  20. 'Feels like the end of an era for Root'published at 16:41 British Summer Time 27 March 2022

    Jonathan Agnew
    BBC cricket correspondent in Grenada

It does feel like the end of an era as far as Joe Root is concerned, and with a new managing director and new coach coming in, a new captain does make sense, to try and get England back on the right track again. Root has given it his all, but as far as I am concerned, the issue of his captaincy is now out of his own hands. He must decide if he wants to be considered for captain when the new positions above him are filled.
