You can watch highlights of this game on BBC Red Button at 22:00 BST, and they'll be available on iPlayer afterwards. If short-form highlights are more your thing you can scroll back through the last half an hour or so for all the key moments.

We'll be back tomorrow morning, just before 10:30 BST, for the second men's ODI between England and Pakistan. We'll have more women's cricket for you on Sunday, with the next Twenty20 between England and India.

    See you then.

Player of the match Nat Sciver on Sky Sports: "It just came together, I was really enjoying it out there and the wicket was nice.

"I got a bit of opportunity to bat with more freedom today after the good partnership at the top, we've got a very strong batting line-up.

"Once we felt comfortable on that wicket you could really hit through the line, me and Amy managed to get a good partnership together which isn't the first time we've done that against India.

"We know our plans in T20 cricket really well and have had a lot of success with it."

England captain Heather Knight on Sky Sports: "We've still got a series to win, that's important. We want to put in a good performance at Hove.

"I'm really pleased with how today went. Nat [Sciver] was outstanding in the middle, alongside Amy Jones, and looked to take the game on. We were clinical with the ball and looked to take wickets early, which is something we're really big on.

"It was an awesome innings by Nat. She hit the ball so hard today, it seemed like she hit the ball even cleaner than usual today. Tammy [Beaumont] and Danni [Wyatt] deserve a mention too, it's been a while since we've had a 50 partnership in Twenty20 cricket.

"Amy Jones is in a great position to win us games, she's really suited to the role in the middle order. She had some success at the top of the order, but we think that's the best role for her and the team to make us successful.

"It was a clinical performance from the team."

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur speaking to Sky Sports: "We knew after 20:30 (BST) there was rain that's why we were batting according to Duckworth-Lewis, but we kept losing wickets. If we had two or three more overs we could have made it.

"We fielded really well, there was a lot of improvement and Shikha Pandey did really well in the bowling department. We need to think about the boundaries we are giving away, we need to work on that.

"Every game is important for us. Today was unfortunate because of rain and some calculations here and there but we still have two more games to prove ourselves."

While we wait, have another watch of this "ridiculous" catch by Harleen Deol.

Go on, you know you want to.

We're just waiting to see if we get any reaction. We'll bring you any as soon as we can.

At the toss Heather Knight spoke about winning today, to make sure they couldn't lose the series. They've done exactly that.

    Breaking

The rain has got the better of us in Northampton unfortunately.

England win by 18 runs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method and they take the two points.

They lead the multi-format series 8-4, and that now means they can't lose the series.

India were left needed 188 - a chase that would be their highest in Twenty20 cricket.

They got off to the worse possible start as Shafali Verma has bowled by Katherine Brunt from the second ball.

England should have been scoring 180 plus comfortably. The 18th over from Pandey picked up three wickets and it pegged England back an extra 10 or 15 runs.

Sophia Dunkley was also stumped in the same over that saw Nat Sciver and Amy Jones dismissed, while Katherine Brunt was run out off the final ball.

England's innings petered out slightly, but a score of 177-7 represented a really good effort.

Danni Wyatt was stood on the boundary and applauding the Harleen Deol catch. It was one to watch, us describing it just doesn't do any justice.

  15. Postpublished at 21:19 British Summer Time 9 July 2021

There aren't many words I can use to describe this from Harleen Deol, that dismissed Amy Jones.

It was described as "ridiculous" on commentary, and that is still not quite doing it justice.

It was without doubt one of the best I've seen in women's cricket.

Nat Sciver was dismissed by this superb diving catch from Harmanpreet Kaur.

This is brilliant, but it's not the best you'll see tonight...

We start losing overs at 21:31 (BST). The cut off time is 22:25 (BST) but the rain is falling pretty steadily.

From then on it was all about Nat Sciver and Amy Jones.

They put on 78 for the fourth wicket, with Sciver making a 27-ball 55 and Jones making 43.

They both demonstrated superb timing, power and placement.

We don't start losing any overs until 21:31 by the way, so we do have some time to play with, but it is WET in Northampton.

India started to wrestle back some control as Tammy Beaumont and captain Heather Knight were dismissed in quick succession to leave England 85-3.
