That's the beauty of this India opening pair. Verma took advantage of the Powerplay and Mandhana had hardly any of the strike, then she says it's my turn.

A bit of a release for India as Shafali Verma flicks Sarah Glenn fine for her ninth boundary. She's up to 46 now.

Hello! Smriti Mandhana, welcome to the party! She goes in to out and drives over mid-off for a glorious six. It bounces straight into the boundary sponge. That is a gorgeous shot.

    Sarah Glenn is on now.

Heather Knight is rotating her bowlers.

Amy Jones is unbelievable behind the stumps. It's a shame she was behind Sarah Taylor otherwise she would have played more than 100 games.

She does the simple things exceptionally well but Sarah Taylor just did outrageous things.

Apparently 123 is the average women's international T20 score at Hove. I think India will be looking well past that today.

Smriti Mandhana has only faced 11 balls in the first seven overs. She's just been looking to rotate strike.

Decent tidy over from Freya Davies with four singles, and a wide - which Amy Jones gathers brilliantly - coming from it. She showed some excellent variations in those six balls.

I'm also going to stick my neck on the line and say no.

It shows how good Sophie Ecclestone is.

Here's Sophie Ecclestone being hit for six by Shafali Verma.

  11. Ind 49-0published at 6 overs

Sophie Ecclestone finishes the powerplay with a maiden.

What is going on!?! Five successive boundaries, and two runs in two overs. Cricket.

That is going to be a really important drop. It's gone straight back to Sophie Ecclestone.

  13. dropped catch

Verma dropped on 39published at 14:51 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

This could be a big moment. England have given Shafali Verma not one, but two chances!

This one is hit back hard by Shafali Verma, but it's hip height, to her dominant side and I think Sophie Ecclestone will be disappointed she hasn't kept hold of that.

Sophie Ecclestone will bowl the final over of the powerplay.

That was brilliantly bowled by Nat Sciver. But you know England are on the back foot when Sophie Ecclestone is bowling her second over in the Powerplay.

    Superb over from Nat Sciver.

Just the two singles from it.

  18. dropped catch

Verma dropped on 38published at 14:47 British Summer Time 11 July 2021

I feel so harsh calling this a drop, but.

Shafali Verma crunches a drive back towards Nat Sciver, who is falling over in her follow-through.

The England all-rounder sticks out a right hand, and the ball brushes it, on the way to the ground.

    It would have been sensational.

A very good start this from India. I was questioning why they were so cautious at the start but they've not got themselves in. They've proved me wrong.
