There was a bit of excitement there. That would have been a big wicket of Kohli. It's an arm-wrestle.

There was a lot of confusion around that Kohli review. It seems the umpires thought Kohli had nicked it and were checking the catch - which was clearly taken cleanly.

There wasn't an initial signal from the umpires which I think is what has annoyed Kohli. He is annoyed New Zealand didn't have to use up a review.

Anyway, after a lot of cheers, a few boos and some Kohli grumbles, the right decision was made.

Over in Southampton, India nearly lose their fourth wicket after a terrible bit of running between Kohli and Rahane.

Rahane dabs to mid-off, sets off straight away but would have been short had Kane Williamson's throw hit the stumps. The ball is instead hurled into the midriff of a diving Rahane.

We've got a delay and some mad scrambling of padding, because there's no batter ready to come out.

Why did she play that shot?! She's played the pull shot really well but surely she knew Sophie Ecclestone was standing there at square leg?

  8. wicket

    Raut 39 c Ecclestone b Sciver 39 (IndW 175-5)

Short from Nat Sciver and Punam Raut pulls it straight to Sophie Ecclestone at square leg. You can't keep her out of the game.

India lose their third wicket for four runs! England getting closer to that finish line.

    Lead by 10 runs

Back to the Mithali Raj dismissal, it was a strange one. At first I thought she edged it to Amy Jones, before noticing that the bail had fallen to the ground. I'm not Raj herself knew what had happened.

And there's drama over in Southampton, as I write this with steam coming off my keyboard.

Kohli looks to tickle Boult down to fine leg, BJ Watling gathers behind the stumps and New Zealand think they've got India's star man.

The umpires send the decision upstairs to see if the ball carried to the wicketkeeper. It did indeed carry. But the twist? There are no spikes on Ultra Edge.

    Kohli survives.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 61.5 overs

    Raj b Ecclestone 4 (IndW 175-4)

It's all going on. Mithali Raj is gone and Sophie Ecclestone has another.

The India skipper doesn't quite read a straight delivery and misjudges an attempted cut, the ball clipping the off stump. England are jubilant.

Was that a bit high? I'm surprised they didn't have a look. It's a great breakthrough. Might that be a door opened for New Zealand?

That is the sort of delivery New Zealand wanted to bowl in the first hour, but they didn't bowl enough of them.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40.2 overs

    Pujara lbw b Boult 8 (IndM 88-3)

Boult strikes! The New Zealand seamer has one swinging back into the pads of Pujara.

After a short discussion with his skipper, Pujara opts not to review. He was quite a way out of his crease, might have been worth it?

In a bid to help the players through the difficulties of bubbles, many of the India team have their partners and children with them in the UK, staying in the team hotel.

I can see a number of partners sat out on the balconies watching the action on the top floor of the hotel, plus a young child who can only be two or three years old.

  20. IndM 87-2published at 13:59 British Summer Time 19 June 2021

    Pujara 8, Kohli 16

Kyle Jamieson looks like such an awkward bowler to face. The six foot eight Kiwi goes full and Kohli helps himself to three through mid-wicket.
