Well there's one over done. Starc was up at 90mph with the juices flowing.

You couldn't make it up. In every imaginable scenario you could think of. First ball!
Dawid Malan will get a couple more here with prod into the off side. There are omens for an Ashes series and then there's losing a wicket on the first ball.
Incredible.

England can breathe.
Edgy but four from Malan. That won't quieten the Aussies.
I can't believe what I've just seen.

Charlie: I'm off to bed.
England have had bad starts in the Ashes but that beats the lot.
A wicket with the first ball.

What an absolutely shattering start.
Burns b Starc 0 (Eng 0-1)

Rory Burns is bowled around his legs first ball by Mitchell Starc. The Gabba erupts.
Here we go ladies and gents. It all starts here.
Mitchell Starc to Rory Burns...
Good luck.

The good news from Brisbane is that the sky looks kind at this stage. There is full cloud cover but it's high light cloud, not heavy with moisture. The rain radar is clear, the air doesn't feel full of foreboding. We might get storms later in the afternoon, but for now, approaching 10am, we'll get a decent slab of play.
Mitchell Starc is looming at the end of his mark ready for a feast.

Haseeb Hameed and Rory Burns are making the Australians wait.
After a punch of the gloves the England opening pair make the long walk out to the middle - the cameras following their every move.

There's controversy over England's team selection, but they can prove everyone wrong over the next five days. I've just been on ABC in Australia - they are reeling over neither Broad or Anderson playing.
Another big roar comes at the end of Advance Australia Fair. The Aussies look desperate to get going. Debutant Alex Carey looks like a boxer ready to get at it.
It's almost time.
Just do it, Chris...

Chris Solman: Been told I can work from home tomorrow. Worried I’ll accidentally watch all of day one.
