Moeen certainly looks in the mood against spin tonight.

Moeen Ali heaves Qais Ahmad back over his head for six down the ground. Perhaps not the most elegant shot of Moeen's career, but certainly a very effective one.

With the left and right-hand partnership certain batters will target certain bowlers. It is a huge luxury having that combination.
A ball later and Moeen Ali drills it to Ben Duckett who stops it at mid-off but they scamper a single. Phoenix finish with a few more singles. If these two stay here for a while they are looking good for 150 plus.

I can't tell if Fletcher was trying to bowl quickly or a slower ball. Moeen was really quickly onto that.
Moeen Ali smashes a six, pulled into the baying crowd inside the Eric Hollies stand, after Luke Fletcher drops it a little short on to the Phoenix batter's hips.
A fine catch by a spectacled gentlemen in the crowd who caught it on the rebound from a plastic seat.

The Phoenix would have liked to have been five or 10 runs further on than they are. When the spinners are on they might find it more difficult.
Tidy stuff from Qais Ahmad as Phoenix manage to take four runs from his first set of five.
Afghanistan spinner Qais Ahmad, with his trademark red headband, into the attack for Welsh Fire.
Matt Milnes continues for Welsh Fire, and bangs one in short but Moeen Ali is too good. The England all-rounder had started to come down the wicket but is quick enough to react and pulls Milnes through mid-wicket.

There is a great atmosphere. It is really lively.

Not a bad start from the Phoenix. Will Smeed looks very settled.
Will Smeed unconcerned what is happening at the other end, as he smears David Payne over mid-off for four. A ball later he punches it through the covers for four, although Qais Ahmad didn't fancy getting his kit wet and diving for it
A good set of five from Matt Milnes with just one run and a wicket from it.
Birmingham Phoenix have a batting dot-ball percentage of 37 in powerplay overs in the men’s edition of The Hundred, the best among all teams in the tournament.
By way of comparison, Welsh Fire are at 47% in this category.

When Allen first hit that I thought it was six. It is a massive hit out there.
Allen c Phillips b Milnes 2
Finn Allen a little too eager to get into the action, perhaps. It's a straight half volley from Matt Milnes and he whips it across the line but he hasn't quite timed it and Glenn Phillips is able to pouch the catch.
Great team-work on the boundary from Welsh Fire as Glenn Phillips and Adam Milne both slide to prevent a four off the bat of Will Smeed from the first ball.
The end of the set ends in a maximum, though. David Payne drops it fraction short on the leg side and Smeed swivels on to the back foot and whips it for six behind square.
