Well, I said they needed a big over and Rajapakse delivers first ball!

Inside out and over extra cover. Lovely. Can he find a couple more boundaries in this over?

Bangladesh have been very good in the field, saving a number of twos, good throws to the keeper - exactly what you need when you try to strangle a chase.

    Target 172

Good intent from Rajapakse, who is connecting well but just struggling to find the boundary.

Sri Lanka need to find a big over from somewhere as that run rate is just starting to creep up on them.

    Here comes Mahmudullah to bowl.

  5. SL 85-4published at 11 overs

    Target 172

Sri Lanka are firmly in the rebuilding stage now as they take four singles from Mahedi Hasan's over.

A reminder: they were 71-1 after eight overs ...

  6. Not outpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 24 October 2021

No, he hasn't. Not the best review. It was wide, down the leg side and perhaps just clipping the pad. Asalanka survives - he has 47 and is the key for Sri Lanka now.

Now then! With just a few seconds remaining, Bangladesh send this one upstairs - has Asalanka been caught behind?

Poor game awareness, well bowled with pace off the ball and fuller in length. No need for that shot from Hasaranga.

    Hasaranga c Mohammad Naim b Saifuddin 6 (SL 79-4)

    Ah.

A strange choice of shot there from Hasaranga. Having just hit a boundary, he goes for a big slog attempting to hit the ball into the stands but the ball goes straight up in the air and into the hands of Naim at midwicket.

    Sri Lanka in trouble.

  12. SL 79-3published at 9.3 overs

    Saifuddin takes the next over.

Hasaranga carves one past point for four runs as Sri Lanka try to fight back from that double-wicket over.

Shakib is the talisman as always, how canny he has been - he went a lot slower, he tempts and dares you to over after him. Two wickets in this over, and he has pulled this game back to Bangladesh.

What an over! Two wickets, one run and Shakib has 2-6 from two overs.

Wanindu Hasaranga is the new batter - he's had a great start to this competition and Sri Lanka need him to step up again today.

    Avishka b Shakib 0 (SL 71-3)

    Well, well, well...

Shakib Al Hasan, so often Bangladesh's saviour and he's playing a blinder here. No footwork from the new batter Avishka Fernando and he's missed a straight one.

I can't keep up with this game!

Every time you get a good over, it pushes that run rate up. It's fantastic stuff from Bangladesh, that last over caused extra pressure.

    Nissanka b Shakib 24 (SL 71-2)

Of course, it's Shakib Al Hasan with the breakthrough!

The previous over went for just four runs, so Nissanka might have been thinking he needed to go for it here. He goes for another slog sweep but it's too full and the ball dips underneath his bat.

Bangladesh are back in the game!

Bangladesh have been caught off guard, but it has been good competitive cricket with ebb and flow.

  20. SL 71-1published at 8 overs

    Target 172

A good recovery from Bangladesh as Mahedi Hasan's over goes for just four singles.
