India are cruising - thanks to these wickets.
Bumrah goes short and Janat staggers back like a boxer trying to evade a solid right.
Three from the over.
I don't break promises. As we were.
Nabi defends off the back foot. A throw at the non striker's end hits the stump. We go to the TV umpire but I promise you he's in.

I've been working on this theory for net run-rate for a while now.
I think the side batting second should be allowed to keep batting until they are bowled out or completed their 20 overs, so then you have a literal for and against. Like goal difference in football.
Ashwin is done for the day. He's bowled superbly, finishing with 2-14 off four overs.
The net run-rate chat on TMS is making my head hurt. Can we get Carol Vorderman on the case?
Three singles off Ashwin.

If you are a batter you would always fancy Ravindra Jadeja on these sorts of pitches.
A boundary! Janat is down on one knee and paddles Jadeja down to fine leg for four.
Ten from the over.
India, by the way, will have a new head coach after this tournament.
Introducing Rahul Dravid, who will replace Ravi Shastri.
Karim Janat is the new batter in for Afghanistan. I can't remember when the last boundary was.

Ashwin is always ahead of the game, he is always outthinking the batter and that's why he is such a special bowler.
Najibullah b Ashwin 11 (Afg 69-5)
Well, this one is conclusive.
Ravichandran Ashwin bowls the arm ball. Najibullah Zadran attempts the reverse sweep and the ball clatters into the stumps.
Afg 69-4
Now then, this was a lot closer than we thought! After serveral TV replays, there's nothing conclusive to say it's out. The soft signal was not out and that is the decision which remains.
Cricket - a game of fine margins. Nabi drills the ball to extra cover and the ball falls just short of Rohit Sharma.
Well, I think it has dropped just short. The umpires are taking it upstairs. But the fielder didn't really appeal for it.

Shardul Thakur strikes me as the kind of guy that opponents underestimate.
To answer my question from earlier - it seems Afghanistan have given up on any hope of a victory here and are looking to limit the severity of the defeat.
Nabi and Najibullah prod and dab the singles.

A change in bowling as seamer Shardul Thakur is introduced. Fresh from a win with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, he's a man in form.
Afghanistan help themselves to three easy singles.

I don't think Afghanistan are going to chase here. They are going to try and get to 130/140 so there is not so much damage on their net run-rate.
