WICKETpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Jones c Simpson b Roland-Jones (Middlesex 422 v Durham 350 & 2-1)

    That is a cracking delivery.

TRJ produces a perfect leg-cutter and wicketkeeper John Simpson swoops to pick up the low catch.

    Poor start by Durham.

  2. Durham begin second inningspublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Middlesex 422 v Durham 350 & 1-0

England opener Alex Lees finds himself out in the middle with partner Michael Jones with 11 overs left in the day's play at Lord's. They each take a single in Tim Murtagh's opener.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Parkinson c Browne b Harmer 6 (Lancashire 103 & 193-7 f/o v Essex 391)

Simon Harmer is the man doing the damage as this one reaches its conclusion.

He's now removed Matt Parkinson who was sent in as a nightwatchman to see the day out.

We now have another seven overs for Lancashire to see out as they trail by 95.

  4. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 57-3

Two balls into a new Jordan Thompson over, rain arrives at Headingley and the umpires decide the players should go off.

There were seven more to bowl after this one - but we may not see any more play now.

Sam Hain (19) and Will Rhodes (10) are the not out batsmen, and they have added 32 runs in27 overs since the fall of Dom Sibley.

    Notts 358 v Derbyshire 260 & 249-7

Derbyshire's lead is now over 151 as Alex Hughes and Liam Hurt both close in on their half-centuries.

The duo have done a great job through the evening session and we still have 11 overs to go.

    Murtagh b Stokes 7 (Middlesex 422 v Durham 350)

It's a four-fer for the England skipper - 4-72 to be precise, after he flattens Tim Murtagh's off stump.

The Middlesex number 11 had the temerity to thump the previous ball through mid-wicket for four, but it was his final scoring stroke.

Toby Roland-Jones is left 21 not out and Durham will bat again this evening, 72 behind.

  7. Third batting point for Northantspublished at 18:21 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Northants 311-6 v Kent 519-9 dec

Lewis McManus sweeps George Linde for four as Northants claim their third batting point.

Matt Quinn comes in for the next over and Josh Cobb spanks the first two deliveries through mid-on for four.

  8. Postpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 55-3

One run scored in the last 10 overs at Headingley. Wonder what those fans introduced to cricket by The Hundred last summer would make of this.

You can bet, though, that Sam Hain and Will Rhodes do not, in the words of Clark Gable, "give a damn" providing they stay together.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:16 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Vilas lbw Harmer 62 (Lancashire 103 & 182-6 f/o v Essex 391)

A wicket in the penultimate over of the day and it's a big one for Essex as the remove Lancashire skipper Dane Vilas.

That's a big blow for the hosts who would have wanted to keep Vilas out in the middle tomorrow morning.

Luke Wood joins nightwatchman Matthew Parkinson for the final over.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Hollman c Rushworth b Stokes 41 (Middlesex 410-9 v Durham 350)

The England captain digs one in, Luke Hollman tries to pull it from outside off stump and only succeeds in hitting it to mid-on where the catch is taken.

That is 3-67 now for Stokes as Middlesex number 11 Tim Murtagh comes to the crease. The lead is exactly 60.

  11. Middlesex take it to the maxpublished at 18:07 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Middlesex 406-8 v Durham 350

Maximum batting points for Middlesex as Toby Roland-Jones hits two leg-side boundaries in Matt Salisbury's latest over. He certainly didn't middle the first one, which ended up behind square.

England skipper Ben Stokes is back in action at the other end and is not happy with himself as a leg-stump delivery enables Luke Hollman to tickle it down to fine leg for four more.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Salt c Rossington b Critchley 31 (Lancashire 103 & 176-5 f/o v Essex 391)

Matthew Critchley claims the wicket of Phil Salt just as he did in the first innings.

Salt has a swing and it take a slight edge on the way into the gloves of Adam Rossington.

The wicket came just after the 50 partnership between Salt and Vilas, who is now on 61 not out.

Lancs have sent in Matt Parkinson as the night watchman.

    Notts 358 v Derbyshire 260 & 225-7

Notts have taken the new ball and have 17 overs to make it count this evening.

They've given it to the main man Stuart Broad who will be trying to dislodge Alex Hughes and Liam Hurt.

    Derbyshire lead by 127.

  14. Postpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 54-3

Six successive maidens at Headingley. It's at this sort of stage in proceedings where spectators in the ground place newspapers over their faces and seek solace in the arms of Morpheus. A couple of Yorkshire wickets, though, and the joint will be jumping again.

  15. Postpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Northants 288-6 v Kent 519-9 dec

Lewis McManus drives Matt Quinn past mid-off and it costs Kent six as the pace bowler over-stepped. McManus has 12 and isn't showing any obvious issue with that finger injury.

Northants still trail by 231, with 17 overs until stumps.

  16. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Notts 358 v Derbyshire 260 & 215-7

Derbyshire's lead is up to 117 now and they still have those three wickets in hand.

We still have 19 overs left to play this evening so there's plenty of time for Notts to bowl them out tonight, but at present Alex Hughes (34*) and Liam Hurt (32*) look pretty settled.

  17. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 54-3

Sam Hain drives, Dom Bess fields off his own bowling and the batter has to scurry back to his crease as the Yorkshire spinner shapes to throw.

Hain has 18 from 69 balls and partner Will Rhodes is eight not out.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Andersson b Salisbury 62 (Middlesex 386-8 v Durham 350)

Through the gate, thank you very much.

It's a first wicket for Matt Salisbury and ends a partnership of exactly 100 between Martin Andersson and Luke Hollman.

Toby Roland-Jones is the new Middlesex batter.

    Yorks 449 v Warwicks 244 & 54-3

Attritional fare now at Headingley as spinner Dom Bess comes in for his first over of Warwickshire's second innings. It's a tidy maiden and there are 20 to go before the close, with Warwickshire 151 behind.

for Dane Vilaspublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 21 May 2022

    Lancashire 103 & 144-4 f/o v Essex 391

    A captain's knock.

Dane Vilas has held things together well for his side as they look to fightback and take this game into the final day.

He's hit six fours and a six and is now up to 56.
