Right on cue!
Six and fifty for Devon Conway, a fine innings. He slaps Adam Zampa's first ball into the leg-side for six with real authority.
Is this the over they're going to target to go big from?
NZ 114-1
A brilliant over from Mitchell Starc goes for just five as he nails his yorkers.
New Zealand are still in a very good position but they need some boundaries. One of Williamson or Conway needs to hit the accelerator.

Fletch Opinions: As good a batter as Williamson is, his game isn't suited to T20 and he slows the momentum down. England realised with Root he's not a T20 batter and it has done them good.
Dan O'Brien: Controversial maybe but I think it might be time for a NZ T20 team without Williamson. His SR feels like it's becoming an issue...

Australia seem happy to just go for singles. At the start of an innings, the teams these days would be happy to concede 120 but I think they need to push more for a wicket here.
NZ 109-1
A single out to square leg brings up the fifty partnership from 40 balls between Devon Conway and Kane Williamson.
It feels like Marcus Stoinis has done a good job of tightening things up for Australia but he's still gone for 29 from three overs.

What a lovely shot that is. A slower ball from Stoinis and Williamson got down, almost like a sweep shot, and hoicked it over the leg-side boundary.
NZ 103-1
Ha!
Whenever we mention Kane Williamson's scoring rate he seems to prove us wrong every single time.
Down on one knee and whips Marcus Stoinis over square leg for six from the first ball after drinks.
Outstanding.

Devon Conway has played nicely for his 42 but New Zealand are in their commanding position because of this man.
What a start.

This is the way Williamson plays. He just gets himself going, you look up and he's 20 then he starts looking for the boundaries.
NZ 97-1
Conway 42, Williamson 12
Kane Williamson is timing the ball beautifully but not quite able to find the boundary.
Mitchell Starc goes for seven from his second over after he had a mare with the first of the day which went for 14.
Halfway through New Zealand's innings and they are cruising.

I'm not sure how that was going over the top of the stumps.

NZ 90-1
Oh! It is pad first but the ball is missing the stumps, going over the top, so the Aussies lose a review.
Adam Zampa grimaces but Devon Conway breathes a sigh of relief.

NZ 90-1
Oh, but has he got him this time?
It's a defensive shot from Conway, the umpire gives it not out. Has it come off the bat or pad first? Adam Zampa is ecstatic, he is desperate for a review and gets one.

Conway hits it high, hits it straight and hits it for six. That is magnificent. A powerful six.

Conway picked the googly out of the hand and plundered it over the ropes.

Well! Adam Zampa was just starting to tie New Zealand down a bit, a dot ball and a couple of singles at the start of the over.
But Devon Conway pummels him back over his head for six to ease any sign of pressure. Class.
