  1. Ire 36-0published at 5 overs

That will make Ireland feel better as their powerplay was starting to stall a bit.

We had gone 10 balls without a boundary before Paul Stirling pulls the ball around the corner for four.

A mistimed swipe towards mid-wicket is well clawed back on the boundary by Daryl Mitchell to prevent another four with the final ball over the over..

Here is the magic moment when Josh Little claimed a brilliant hat-trick.

    Fantastic bowling.

Stirling is throwing everything at it, including the kitchen sink. He's really going for it and why not?

  4. Ire 26-0published at 4 overs

There's a change in the bowling as the lively Lockie Ferguson comes into the attack.

Paul Stirling goes for a couple of huge heaves but doesn't get anything on it. A straight drive from the final ball of the other comes off the toe-end of the bat and Ireland run three.

Very bold from Stirling. He finally got one that was fuller, wider and he was able to free his arms. He made good use of it.

  6. Ire 19-0published at 3 overs

That's more like it. It's full and wide from Trent Boult and Paul Stirling takes advantage, opening the face and hammering the ball through point.

Stirling is starting to move through the gears.

Stirling didn't really time that but you can see the intent.

  8. Ire 12-0published at 2.3 overs

    In the air....but safe!

Paul Stirling doesn't quite time the shot as he looks the heave the ball over mid-off and it fizzes into the air.

Mid-on and mid-off converge but the ball lands on the ground before they can get to it.

He got a long way across. It was a good review.

  10. Not outpublished at 2 overs

Ooh, umpires call. Clipping the top of the bails.

Paul Stirling survives and New Zealand keep the review.

Southee really liked that, he ran all the way down the pitch and is now walking back as if he was never interested.

But Williamson has reviewed it. This is a big moment in the game.

  12. New Zealand reviewpublished at 2 overs

There's a huge appeal from Tim Southee as Paul Stirling steps across his stumps and is hit on the pads.

New Zealand send it upstairs. It looked a bit high on first look.

Short and Balbirnie latched onto it. There's not much swing which has probably forced Boult to drag his length back. But you don't want to pull it back as far as that otherwise that will be the result.

  14. 6 runs

    Ire 7-0published at 1 overs

    That's more like it!

It's a touch short from Trent Boult and Andrew Balbirnie is onto it in a flash, pulling the ball in front of square for six. Great shot.

I don't think the pitch will change but it has been on the slower side. The two New Zealand openers struggled a bit to start with but were able to get going when spin was introduced.

  16. Ire 1-0published at 0.3 overs

Trent Boult opens the bowling for New Zealand and Paul Stirling gets off the mark with a clip off the pads through square leg.

That brings Andrew Balbirnie on strike and Boult gets one to jag back in to the Ireland skipper and it narrowly avoids his inside edge.

Encouraging signs for the experienced New Zealand seamer.

    Thanks, Callum.

Well, that was turning into a fairly humdrum innings until Josh Little's heroics. Kane Williamson, James Neesham and Mitchell Santner as well. These weren't tail-enders.

Some fireworks will be needed from the Ireland batters up top if they are to chase this target down though.

Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie, over to you.

A reminder that if New Zealand win they are practically through to the semi-finals.

We won't be able to say with any certainty because England and Australia could in theory both end up with better net run-rates, but it is very unlikely both, or even either, will.

Ireland are probably out already now because they need to win and drastically improve their net run-rate (and then hope other results go their way). That is going to be hard to do chasing 186.

Anyway, Tom Mallows will take you through the chase.

  19. 'It is time for another upset'published at 05:46 Greenwich Mean Time 4 November 2022

Ireland bowler Josh Little: "There was a little bit of tail into the left-handers and I just tried to execute it three times in a row and luckily it hit them all on the pads.

"I probably bowled a little short up top, but seeing how it reversed late on shows I could have bowled a bit fuller."

Can Ireland chase down 186: "I don't see why not. It is time for another upset in this World Cup."

Josh Little already has a contract in the T10 League after this tournament.

Don't be surprised if we see him popping up in the Big Bash, the new UAE T20 League and the Pakistan Super League in the next few months either.

I imagine he'll be very popular in The Hundred too.
