Pete Hotchkiss: Nice quiet first over to ease us all into this semi…

  2. NZ 6-1

I feel like I need a nap and we're only one over in.

  3. Post update

    Henry Moeran

    BBC Test Match Special commentator

It is extraordinary out there. There is an energy and intensity around the stadium.

  4. NZ 5-1

Kane Williamson takes an easy single to get off the mark and a bit of normality is resumed.

    For now.

    Shaheen

That's the key wicket. That's the one Pakistan will have wanted.

  6. WICKET

    Allen lbw b Shaheen 4 (NZ 4-1)

    Hitting middle stump!

Textbook Shaheen Afridi. Full, straight, smashed on the front pad and the exciting Finn Allen has to go.

So we've had three balls and they've given us a four, two lbws, two reviews, and a wicket.

    Mad game.

    Alex Hartley

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

This feels more out than the last one. I think it has pitched in line.

  8. NZ review

    What's going on?!

Another lbw given, another lbw reviewed.

Who wanted a nice easy start to their live texting stint, anyway?

  9. Not out

    NZ 4-0

    Oh, he's middled it.

    As you were.

  10. NZ review

And he's given lbw second ball!

The umpire takes an age to give it but almost as soon as he does, Finn Allen reviews.

    Did he hit it?

  11. NZ 4-0

    Four

Straight down the ground for four!

Easy as you like from the fearless Finn Allen.

  12. Post update

New Zealand's big-hitting opener Finn Allen broke his bat at practice yesterday. Hopefully, for the Black Caps, that's not a bad omen...

  13. Post update

I literally have no idea which way this one is going to go.

New Zealand are probably favourites but Pakistan are very dangerous, especially with an underdog tag.

    Let's go!

    Alex Hartley

Former England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

I am firmly in the New Zealand camp. The way Pakistan have played their cricket has frustrated me, they are much better than they have been in this competition.

Their two openers, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, have an average run-rate of 5.93 in the powerplay. Only Zimbabwe and the Netherlands had worse in the Super 12s.

So when you have two world-class players at the top of the order like that you need to capitalise. Otherwise you put pressure on the rest of the order.

  15. Post update

    Pakistan fan

Plenty of enthusiastic Pakistan support in the crowd. The commitment to the outfits is amazing.

They lost their first two games to India and Zimbabwe from the final ball of the game, then beat South Africa, who were top of the group at the time. Then Netherlands beat South Africa, and Pakistan snuck through at the very last second.

    What a team.

  16. Post update

Some more Glenn Phillips magic would be much appreciated by New Zealand today...

  17. Post update

Unfortunately, there's some worrying news coming from the England camp this morning.

As expected, Dawid Malan is unlikely to play their semi-final against India tomorrow after he hurt his groin in the game against Sri Lanka, but there are now doubts about fast bowler Mark Wood.

You can read all the latest from my colleague Matt Henry here.
