Capsey will be happy she's 18-years-old now. She'll be glad because her mum doesn't need to be on any Whatsapp group chats with her now. Her mum is renowned for putting a gif on every group she's in to try and embarrass her.

David: Of course Alice Capsey got a wicket with her second ball on her 18th birthday. Did you honestly expect her to do anything else?

  3. Superchargers 38-2published at 25 balls

A good end to the powerplay for the Invincibles. Just six from Capsey's over and the wicket of Heath.

Capsey! Happy Birthday indeed. She's got a knack of having a golden arm.

Bess Heath nails the reverse sweep... but it is straight to Mady Villiers at point!

Alice Capsey is delighted - a wicket for her on her 18th birthday. She was the breakout star of last year's tournament and she's made the perfect start to this one too.

  6. Superchargers 32-1published at 20 balls

Credit to Smale, she comes back well after those early boundaries and concedes just a pair of singles from her last three deliveries.

The left-arm spinner hasn't been afraid to give the ball some air and really tempt Rodrigues.

  7. Superchargers 30-1published at 17 balls

Rodrigues looks in the mood! Back-to-back boundaries as she takes a liking to Smale.

She gives herself room and thumps the first over cover before getting down on one knee to nail a sweep in front of square.

    Impressive hitting.

  8. Superchargers 22-1published at 15 balls

That is top class from Jemimah Rodrigues! Full and straight from Ismail but Rodrigues gets forward and plants the ball back over the bowler's head for four.

    Glorious.

  9. Superchargers 17-1published at 13 balls

Ismail is letting her frustration out with the ball, her last delivery was clocked at 77mph!

The next one is short and sharp, too. Bess Heath gets a top-edge on it and the ball loops up and over short third for a single.

  10. Superchargers 16-1published at 10 balls

Very good start from Smale, only two runs from her first five balls and the massive scalp of Alyssa Healy.

Shabnim Ismail will be mightily relieved.

The drop isn't too costly! What a moment for Sophia Smale on debut!

Healy tries to go over the top again but doesn't make a clean connection and this time Suzie Bates is there at mid off to take the catch.

    Big wicket for the Invincibles.

  12. Superchargers 14-0published at 5 balls

How often do we see it? A drop followed by a boundary next ball, Healy on the sweep this time. She's had a life but she's off to a flyer!

Also, as if the drop wasn't bad enough, the ball ran away for four then, too.

That is a very eventful first set of the tournament!

  13. Healy dropped on 6published at 4 balls

Huge moment! Healy tries to go again but doesn't get the elevation on this one and the chance is put down at mid on by Shabnim Ismail.

That really should have been taken and it could prove a costly drop.

  14. 6 runs

    Superchargers 6-0published at 2 balls

One ball to get in, then it's go time for Alyssa Healy!

Down the track and thumps Villiers back over her head for six - brilliant shot and what a way to get the tournament up and running in 2022!

  15. Superchargers 0-0published at 1 ball

Mady Villiers bowls the first ball of the tournament to Alyssa Healy, who just pats it back to her.

    A steady start.

Fireworks are going off around The Oval to mark the start of the women's competition - someone must have had a word after the men's because the smoke created by them isn't going to delay the start of the game!

The players are easily visible, in fact, as they jog through the smoke and out into the middle. We're just about ready to get underway.

  18. Tonight's match-up: Captain fantastic & leading run-scorerpublished at 18:24 British Summer Time 11 August 2022

South African all-rounder Dane van Niekerk led Oval Invincibles to the Hundred title in 2021 with her calm captaincy, wily leg spin and crucial run-scoring.

Jemimah Rodrigues was the competition's leading run-scorer and holds the highest score of the women's competition with 92.

Rodrigues showed glimpses of her class in the recent Commonwealth Games while Van Niekerk has been out of action for months with an ankle injury.

Can the Oval Invincibles pick up where they left after their first year victory, or will the Superchargers cause an upset? Regardless of the outcome, these two players will be integral.

Northern Superchargers captain Holly Armitage, speaking to Sky Sports: "I'm not lying, we were going to bat first so it's worked out well.

"Hopefully it'll be a really good game but we're really excited to get the competition going.

"We want to go harder at the top of the order, which having someone like Alyssa Healy helps with. There are a lot of stats about The Hundred now that help so hopefully we can have a good tournament."
