  3. 'We're in a good position'published at 19:43 British Summer Time 2 October 2022

England captain Moeen Ali: "Brilliant game today, we played really well from the start.

"The batters put up a very good score and I thought our bowling was outstanding in wet conditions. [The top order] give confidence to everyone else. The strike-rates they bat at is really important.

"After we lost a couple, credit to the boys, they went out and played how they wanted.

"We had two must-win games, to come back and win them is good to see.

"We're in a good position, and it shows the depth we have.

"I also just want to say thank you to everyone here, and the PCB for looking after us."

  6. 'All of Pakistan was waiting for this'published at 19:40 British Summer Time 2 October 2022

Pakistan's skipper Babar Azam: "The total put pressure on us and on our batsmen. We had a plan but we didn't execute it well and our fielding wasn't up to the mark. If we didn't drop the catches then it would be a different story.

"This series was vital for us and there are things that have opened up for us about where to improve especially as the T20 World Cup is a short format, so it's important we improve.

"Our bowling line up is very good. We are missing a few bowlers but I think day-by-day everyone is improving.

"All of Pakistan was waiting for this and the way the crowds have come to see their cricket stars perform in their home crowd, it's been great."

Mark: Bit of a damp squib decider but a wonderful series, played in great spirit, on good pitches, overseen by top notch umpires in front of fantastic crowds. Thank goodness we have cricket in Pakistan again.

    100% agree!

  8. 'We can push for the trophy'published at 19:36 British Summer Time 2 October 2022

England's Harry Brook: "I just trying to hit straight and play the ball on its merits.

"I've had plenty of practice and time in the nets doing drills and I look to try hit straight and if not then manipulate the field.

"All the lads are looking forward to going to Australia and hopefully we can push for the trophy there too.

    "It's been good fun obviously.

"We've been in hotel quite a bit and will be good to get out of the hotel."

Scott: Well done to Moeen, who has captained the side well this series! I feel a lot better going into the T20 World Cup now than I did a few weeks ago. It was some good game time and answered a few questions being asked!

  10. 'We saw this as a final'published at 19:30 British Summer Time 2 October 2022

Player of the match, England batter Dawid Malan who struck 78 off 47: "We saw this as a final and the last game as a semi-final and so to be able to do it under pressure and put on a big score like that was fantastic for us as a batting unit.

"We felt the first 12-14 overs it was coming on really nicely and then it slowed quite a lot towards the end. We actually found it quite tough in those last five overs.

"Luckily our bowlers learned the lessons, bowling into the pitch, slower balls, changing up the pace and they bowled fantastically well to defend that.

"We were given a break here and there some of the guys, it's been pretty tough. I think we're looking forward to getting to Australia and having a couple of days off - but it's been fantastic to be here."

  12. 'Buttler will keep at World Cup'published at 19:26 British Summer Time 2 October 2022

    Jos ButtlerImage source, Getty Images

England white-ball coach Matthew Mott speaking to Sky Sports: "Our plan was to take it deep and see if we could rotate and take our squad through.

"We couldn't have asked for more really. We had our debutants do well. To have effectively a final atmosphere tonight we could not have asked for more.

"Harry Brook has come in and done well. Doing well deciding when to hit his boundaries.

"Duckett has come in and asked questions. Malan today was outstanding. And all the bowlers as well. Wood and Woakes have come back. We have excellent depth.

"Livingstone will be fine. He should be alright to start. Jos has been chomping at the bit to return but the risk-reward wasn't quite there.

"We have a series against Australia first and foremost. In Australia there are different conditions. We're pretty close to the first XI. Then we will reassess from there.

"If Jos Buttler is fully fit he will keep. He had the chance to not keep and see things differently in the Hundred but he didn't think he got much of an advantage.

"He still has the likes of Rashid and Mo in the field to offload some of that leadership on."

Steve: What a brilliant series. Both sides have showcased their skills with bat and ball. Above all else, it's been played in a terrific spirit. The people of Pakistan have embraced England and so glad the Test side will be here in December.
