England should win this game, they should score plenty of runs and be able to defend them. But Pakistan have been the most improved side.

It was a really frustrating loss to West Indies last time out.

It's a big opportunity for Freya Davies today, although many might have expected England to rest Katherine Sciver-Brunt instead of Lauren Bell.

There's no shying away from the fact that Sciver-Brunt has not been at her best with the ball throughout the tournament but has an opportunity to put things right here - but, with the greatest respect to Pakistan, their batters are not comparable to what England faced against India or will potentially face against Australia.

If she doesn't bowl well today, England are in a tricky position where they might have to drop their veteran bowler for a semi-final.

After Monday's rain-curtailed match between India and Ireland it looks like we will have no such issues in Cape Town today. The sun is beating down at Newlands, which once again looks an absolute picture.

    A stunning venue for cricket.

  5. Changes for both sidespublished at 12:42 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

So a huge blow for Pakistan with captain Bismah Mahroof rules out through injury, though a bit opportunity for the experienced Nida Dar to lead the side.

Aamin Anwer also drops out of the side with Sadaf Shamas and Sidra Nawaz coming in.

England make just one change with Lauren Bell rested and Freya Davies coming in.

Pakistan captain Nida Dar: "Bismah Mahroof has an injury so she misses out, so I'm captain today.

"It is an honour for me and a chance to show my skills. I've always wanted to lead my team so all we need to do is our best.

"We always want to finish on a high note. We have had some good games here at Newlands, we have batted really well, but we need to improve further."

  7. 'It's all about momentum'published at 12:38 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

England captain Heather Knight: "We're going to have a bat. It's a used wicket and looks a good surface, which might have some spin later on.

"One change, Lauren Bell is going to rest, Freya Davis comes in.

"[Katherine Sciver-Brunt] been a stalwart for us for a number of innings and I trust her at the end. She didn't have the best game the other day but she puts so much pressure on herself with such high standards.

"To beat India with our backs against the wall was a real testament. They had had the best of the conditions.

"It's all about momentum in tournaments, we want to keep that going. We've been steadily improving, we haven't played our best cricket yet."

  9. The state of playpublished at 12:33 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2023

England and India are certain to qualify for the semi-finals from Group 2 regardless of what happens today.

England's superior net run-rate means they are also likely to go through as group winners - and therefore avoid holders Australia in the last four - unless they lose this game by a huge margin.
