What a knock from Luke Wells. Exactly what the Fire needed from one of their top order batters, 57 from 23 balls. That gives the Welsh Fire the kind of momentum they needed.

  2. Fire 94-3published at 40 balls

Good finish for Manchester Originals thanks to Tom Hartley. Just seven from the last five balls.

It's still a very imposing total from Welsh Fire, though, with Luke Wells having led the way with 57 from 23 balls!

With the batting at their disposal, the Originals will still back themselves to chase it...

  3. wicket

    Phillips c Salt b Hartley 19 (Fire 91-3)

Another big hit but this time out to the long square boundaries and Phil Salt comes running around to take the catch.

Superb grab and the gamble with Tom Hartley has paid off.

He is! Tom Hartley is on to bowl the last five balls...

David Willey averages 27.98 and strikes at 140.61 against pace.

It's down at 21.74 and 131.76 against spin.

Will Jos Buttler risk spin for the final five balls?

  8. Fire 87-2published at 35 balls

David Willey is the new batter and after missing with a ramp first ball, he gets off the mark with two clipped leg side.

He smashes Josh Little's last ball in the same direction but straight to a fielder and has to settle for one.

Five balls left in the innings and this is already a huge total for the Fire!

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 32 balls

    Wells c J Overton b Little 57 (Fire 83-2)

Slower ball from Josh Little and Luke Wells is caught in the deep.

Good hands from Jamie Overton. But what an innings from Wells!

  10. Fire 79-1published at 31 balls

Josh Little loses control of the ball attempting a slower delivery. Full toss and free hit for Luke Wells to try and take advantage of...

Dug in at the ribs, Wells is craped for room but still somehow manages to flick it away fine for four.

This is remarkable from Wells and the Fire.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Luke Wellspublished at 30 balls

    Fire 76-1

Luke Wells goes to his fifty with another boundary, this one battered back past Usama Mir for four.

There has been one wicket so far, Joe Clarke gone first ball.

A superb catch from Ashton Turner off Josh Little.

  16. Fire 58-1published at 25 balls

We've got a strategic timeout and Manchester Originals probably need it more than the Welsh Fire.

The home side just need to keep doing what they're doing.

  17. Postpublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 2 August 2023

Luke Wells has basically played a shot a ball so far, and he's generally connected well.

This was one of his best shots though, a superb flick over wide long-on.

Another huge six from Luke Wells!

On the pads from Josh Tongue and Wells hammers it over the ropes. The Originals have got no answer at the moment.

  19. dropped catch

Phillips dropped on 6published at 22 balls

    Fire 47-1

Chance and a potentially costly drop from Jos Buttler!

It was a short ball from Josh Tongue, Glenn Phillips went for the pull and gloved it down the leg side.

Buttler dives, gets his gloves to it but the ball pops out. Everything is going Welsh Fire's way so far...

  20. Fire 46-1published at 21 balls

It's back to pace now with Josh Tongue and Glenn Phillips goes back and whips the first ball away for four!
