  1. Post update

That's it from Sophia Gardens - a dramatic 40-ball encounter in rainy Cardiff.

We didn't think we'd get a game for much of the afternoon, but Welsh Fire will be delighted that we did - last season's bottom side are on the board with their first win.

If you missed the action then take a look at Sam Drury's report. Meanwhile London Spirit v Oval Invincibles is just about to get underway at Lord's. You can follow Timothy Abraham's commentary here.

    Have a good evening.

  2. Post update

Luke Wells wins the match hero for his 57 off 23 balls opening for Welsh Fire.

There were some big hits in there - this being one of the best off England seamer Josh Tongue.

  3. Post update

Pakistan seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi's two wickets with the opening two balls of the innings proved crucial in setting the tone of this shortened Originals chase. Here's how he took them.

  4. Post update

Match Hero Luke Wells talking to Sky Sports: "The decision came pretty last minute when we knew the match was going to be reduced. We were keen to have a left-right combination to take advantage of any short boundaries and thankfully it paid off.

"It probably helped not having too much time to think about it. I didn't have a clue what was going on half the time. I was getting used to the rules! It was good fun. I just went with it and it came off.

"I've played in a variety of roles with Lancashire now in the Blast. I pride myself on being adaptable.

"It is a very different group now. It has been a really relaxed atmosphere, we haven't had much time to get to know each other. I think that paid off today."

  5. Post update

Buttler finishes with 37 off 18. Originals would have wanted more of those to come when they stood a reasonable chance of chasing the Fire total.

Welsh Fire played with the freedom of batting first. A brilliant innings from Luke Wells, who set up that win. Fair play to Shaheen Afridi who certainly justified his enormous price tag.

Is this the comeback for a Welsh Fire team who have struggled so much so far? A brilliant performance.

  8. Welsh Fire win by nine runs

Buttler can only take the single from Payne's final delivery and Welsh Fire are home!

The England opener gave it a good go with 15 off the set, but it was always going to be a tall order.

  9. Originals 84-4

Buttler turns the ball round into square leg once more. David Willey should pick it up, but slips on the wet outfield and the ball scuds through for four.

That could have been nasty for Willey.

11 needed off this final delivery - I think Fire have this.

  10. Originals 80-4

Another excellent yorker from Payne and it's only another two down to long-off.

  11. Originals 78-4

Strong yorker from Payne and Originals can only scramble two.

    Ffion Wynne

    BBC Sport at Sophie Gardens

That's just execution from Buttler rather than poor bowling from Payne.

  13. Originals 76-4

Payne follows Buttler's step back, but he's got a good eye on it and turns the ball round - it just clears the ropes without bouncing.

  14. Post update

David Payne will bowl the final set.

  15. Originals 70-4

Australian Ashton Turner comes to the middle and takes the single off Willey's final ball.

Jos Buttler will be on strike for the final set.

If Paul Walter left that alone, it probably would've been called a wide, but it's a simple catch for Joe Clarke. It's six and out.

  17. WICKET

    Walter c Clarke b Willey 6 (Originals 69-4)

    Walter goes!

He takes a swing at another short ball from Willey and can only edge it behind to Joe Clarke with the gloves.

A strange up and down set from Willey.

    26 needed.

That is massive, almost out of the ground!

  19. Originals 69-2

Six for Paul Walter off his first ball!

He has the ball out of the ground, slipping past the side of the stand. Let's go find it!

It's a crucial wicket and dot ball. It's really well adjusted from David Willey. He tempted Max Holden into that. Glenn Phillips is a tremendous athlete, to take that diving low to the ground is a phenomenal athlete.
