What you're trying to avoid in the short format is the step hit - allowing Adam Rossington a step down the ground for the perfect length.
Nathan Sowter tosses one up but Adam Rossington pummels it right back over his head for six. Another maximum.
Matthew Wade has played 75 T20 internationals for Australia.
He's capable of scoring very quickly and is a 360 player.
He averages 29.73 against spin, but strikes at 108.22.
That's a pretty low strike-rate in white-ball cricket.
How does Sam Billings play it?
"Another wicket here Suni" chirps Sam Billings to the Trinidadian spinner as he begins another set.
Adam Rossington and Matthew Wade happy to milk singles and take a run a ball off him.

Atkinson watches it - it almost bursts through his hands. Nathan Sowter is going to be crucial - two wickets for him now.
Pepper c Atkinson b Sowter 4 (Spirit 50-2)
And another for Nathan Sowter!
Michael Pepper hits his first ball for four, and attempts to reverse slog-sweep to the next delivery but finds the gleeful hands of Gus Atkinson at point.

Dan Lawrence stepping to the leg-side to give himself room, but misses it entirely. Nathan Sowter knew his team needed a wicket. Sam Billings gets his team together trying to rally his troops.
Lawrence b Sowter 24 (Spirit 46-1)
But he's on his way now...
Nathan Sowter bowls him with the one which goes the other way. Dan Lawrence failed to pick it and is on his way back to the dugout.
Here's a lovely six from Dan Lawrence form a little earlier...
The Coster Boys
London Spirit super fans
Absolutely massive six from Rossington! Come on Spirit!
Tom Curran with a grunt as he delivers to Adam Rossington, who is seeking to capitalise on what remains in the Powerplay
Rossington picks up the length of Curran's third delivery and whacks a pull into the third tier of the stands.
That was huuuuuuuge.

After losing the toss, being put into bat on a green pitch, the Oval Invincibles would have fancied their chances, but Adam Rossington and Daniel Lawrence have been on top so far.
The crafty spin variations of Sunil Narine are brought into the attack by Sam Billings, but Dan Lawrence uses the full width of the crease to square drive this third ball down the slope at Lord's for four.

You can see from helmet cam how green the wicket is. Normally that would encourage the bowlers, but it's the batters on top so far.
The imposing figure of Adam Rossington begins aggressively with three boundaries off Sam Curran, albeit somewhat fortuitously.
First he punches Curran down the slope, then edges one between the slip and wicketkeeper before a slash down to third.

That's an excellent shot from Daniel Lawrence. He's hit it to the longest part of the boundary. A little flick of the wrist, he uses the pace of Gus Atkinson.
Dan Lawrence with a big waft of the willow and he slices Gus Atkinson over the head of wicketkeeper Sam Billings for four.
A couple of balls later and it's a bit more convincing from Lawrence as he times it superbly and whacks a 90mph rocket from Atkinson high into the stands on the leg side for six.

We've had a tremendous amount of rain throughout the afternoon. We've got the towels out, dry the seam - as a bowler you can lose that bit of grip, the ball can slip out.
Dan Lawrence goes after Sam Curran, hitting the left-arm seamer Sam Curran for back-to-back boundaries.
He wallops Curran straight down the ground then dances down the track and slashes one behind point.

You thought it might have been clipping the stumps. The wicket at Lord's tends not to be that bouncy.
