Plays of the tournament from The Hundred

That's it then for the the group stages of The Hundred this year.

There wasn't much to play for today and that resulted in two pretty one-sided games.

London Spirit thrashed Birmingham Phoenix in the women's game - the report on that one is here.

Birmingham Phoenix thrashed London Spirit in the men's game - read Ffion Wynne's report on that one here.

We'll be back for the Eliminators on Saturday. It's Northern Superchargers v Welsh Fire in the women's competition - watch that live on BBC Two - and Manchester Originals v Southern Brave in the men's.

Join us for both of those games - see you then!

  2. 'We'll come back stronger next year'published at 21:06 British Summer Time 24 August 2023

Match Hero, Birmingham Phoenix's Adam Milne: "It was nice to get that new ball and get it swinging around early. It's always nice taking wickets up top.

"It's something to do with bowling at night here, in the last game against Oval Invincibles, it swung around too. It's nice to get the ball at night when it shapes a bit.

"Incredible batting from Jamie Smith to get us to a good total. That allowed us to attack at the start and take those wickets the keep the pressure up with the spinners.

"It's been a disappointing season when you look at the team and the individual players. Unfortunately, that's just how short-form cricket goes sometimes.

"We showed today what we're capable of and we'll come back next year stronger."

    Breaking

Mitchell b Helm 58 (Spirit 108 all out)

Tom Helm finishes the job for Phoenix!

Excellent yorker and Daryl Mitchell can't keep it out. His lone hand gave the scoreline a bit more respectability but Spirit's campaign ends with a heavy defeat.

  5. Spirit 103-9published at 15 balls left

    Target 186

Just 15 balls left, Tanveer Sangha ends with 3-16 from his 20 balls.

Spirit have at least reached three figures now.

  6. dropped catch

Mitchell dropped on 55published at 18 balls left

    Spirit 99-9

Heaved leg side by Daryl Mitchell but Ben Duckett can't hold on to a very tough chance, diving forward in the deep.

  7. 6 runs

50 for Daryl Mitchellpublished at 20 balls left

Six more! That takes Daryl Mitchell to his half-century from 28 balls.

Amid the mess at the other end, he's been superb for Spirit.

  8. 6 runs

Spirit 89-9published at 23 balls left

Smashed back over the bowler's head by Daryl Mitchell!

It won't change the outcome but that's six more for the New Zealander.

  9. Spirit 81-9published at 25 balls left

    Target 186

Adam Milne gets one ball at Mason Crane to try and get his five-for but the Spirit number 11 gets solidly behind it and gets a single to point.

Milne figures with 4-20 from his 20 balls. His three wickets in the first nine balls of the innings really set the tone.

  10. Spirit 79-9published at 28 balls left

    Target 186

Back-to-back boundaries from Daryl Mitchell - both muscled leg side.

That dents Adam Milne's figures a bit. Still, 4-18 from 17 balls isn't too bad, I guess.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30 balls left

    Thompson lbw b Sangha 1 (Spirit 71-9)

Yep, that's as plumb as it looked the first time.

Jordan Thompson missed with the slog-sweep, was hit on the back leg by Tanveer Sangha and the ball was going on to hit halfway up middle.

  12. Spirit reviewpublished at 30 balls left

Jordan Thompson is given out lbw to Tanveer Sangha.

It looked plumb but he's reviewed.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 33 balls left

    Dawson c Smeed b Sangha 1 (Spirit 69-8)

    What a catch!

Smashed over extra cover by Liam Dawson, the ball swerves in the air but Will Smeed sticks up his hands and takes it at full stretch while running round the boundary.

Incredible. He reacts as though it was nothing! A second wicket for Tanveer Sangha but that's all about Smeed.

  14. Spirit 69-7published at 35 balls left

    Target 186

The ball is turning square but Moeen Ali hasn't bowled yet.

Given the state of the game, the Phoenix captain seems more than happy to let his other bowlers show what they've got.

Tom Helm bowls this five and concedes just three singles.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40 balls left

Southee st Smith b Livingstone 3 (Spirit 66-7)

Ripped past the bat and Liam Livingstone has another!

He beat Tim Southee with a beauty a couple of balls earlier and does so again as the New Zealander advances.

This one could be over pretty quickly from here.

  16. Spirit 62-6published at 45 balls left

    Target 186

Tim Southee is the new batter and plays out the last ball of that five from Liam Livingstone.

The England all-rounder will continue for five more.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 46 balls left

    Critchley c Howell b Livingstone 6 (Spirit 62-6)

Lifted into the hands of Benny Howell at long-on.

Full, flighted delivery from Liam Livingstone and Matt Critchley just chips the ball to the fielder in the deep.

    Simple catch for Howell.

  18. Spirit 60-5published at 50 balls left

    Target 186

Great fielding from Ben Duckett in the deep.

He's runs around the boundary edge and jumps to push the ball back into play while still in mid-air.

  19. Spirit 54-5published at 55 balls left

    Target 186

Dot ball to end the set from Benny Howell.

Spirit need nearly two-and-a-half runs a ball from here.

  20. 6 runs

Spirit 54-5published at 56 balls left

    Target 186

Full ball from Benny Howell and Daryl Mitchell effortlessly launches it over long-on for six!
