When I've been to World Cup matches involving India in India before they are usually jam-packed an hour before the first ball. There are still empty seats at the moment. I'm a bit surprised.

It is working day but it is India's only match in Delhi.

Jasprit Bumrah hangs one a little wider outside off stump and tempts Ibrahim Zadran into a rather wafty stroke that very nearly catches the outside edge.

A rare loose stroke from the Afghanistan opener, who has looked in decent nick so far.

Ibrahim Zadran takes a single off the last ball of the over to move to 16 from 17 balls.

We have just seen a shot of some rather jubilant Afghanistan supporters who are clearly happy with their team's start.

Ibrahim Zadran survives - Hawkeye showed the ball pitched in line but was going on to miss leg stump.

There's a huge appeal Mohammed Siraj as he smacks into Ibrahim Zadran's pads.

The umpire says no but India send it upstairs.

Ibrahim Zadran is looking in good touch he as he clips a half-volley off his pads and the ball races to the boundary.

The India fielders did not even start chasing that it was that well timed.

Two balls later and Ibrahim does it again! It is is again off the pads but races through square leg and to the rope.

This has been a really positive start from Afghanistan.

This is good from Afghanistan. They are trying to be positive with their running.

Brilliant stop from Hardik Pandya in the covers as he dives one-handed to deny Rahmanullah Gurbaz a near certain four.

India were razor sharp in the field against Australia and are picking up where they left off here.

Ibrahim Zadran gets off the mark with a straight drive that has just enough to beat the chasing fielder on the long-off boundary. It was more of a push from the Afghanistan opener but was well timed.

That is a beauty from Siraj. That is like when you put the bowling machine on swing bowling, that is exactly where you'd want it to pitch. You're just hoping for a nick.

Brilliant delivery from Mohammed Siraj. It is a teasing length that tempts Ibrahim Zadran forward, before swinging away and flashing past the outside edge.

The crowd liked that.

The locals haven't been saying there hasn't been much dew in the last few days and that might be why Afghanistan have chose to bat first.

It means their spinners can still be effective in the second innings.

Before the tournament 330 was the score I had in mind and how can you consistently get there.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz will be really important for Afghanistan if they are to get anywhere near that.

Rahmat Shah too, he is probably one of the more technically gifted players in the Afghanistan side.

We have seen sides score runs at this ground so if Afghanistan can get a score on the board you never know.

It looks like a pretty good wicket again.

The Arun Jaitley Stadium is filling up nicely as the two teams line up for the national anthems, before a huge cheer goes up as the India team enters into a pre-match huddle.

There's plenty of blue sky and bright sunshine up ahead.

India and Afghanistan have met just three times in ODIs, though one of those was a thrilling tie in the Asia Cup in 2018.

Something similar today would do nicely.

Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi: "It looks a good surface. If we give them a good target we have a good bowling attack to restrict them.

"We will do our best to bounce back (from their opeing game defeat to Bangladesh) and today is a good chance to do well.

"We are enjoying this tournament. It is a good chance for the team to show our talent and have positive results. So we will try our best."
