That's astonishing from Santner. What a brilliant catch.

    Hashmat c Santner b Ferguson 8 (NZ 43-3)

    Take, Mitchell Santner!

Hashmat plays a mistimed pull shot to Lockie Ferguson, the ball spoons up and is taken spectacularly by the New Zealand fielder. Running back from a short position, he plucks the ball from the air after it comes over his shoulder.

He had to think about not running into the square leg umpire too!

That turned sideways out of the rough from Santner. The inside edge saved Hashmat.

  4. Afg 42-2published at 13 overs

Hint of a chance for Santer as Hashmat chops his delivery down into the pitch in front of the stumps.

It bounces safe, but that could have gone anywhere.

  5. Afg 39-2published at 12 overs

Changes at both ends as Lockie Ferguson replaces Matt Henry.

A single apiece for the Afghanistan batters as the required run-rate creeps above 6.5.

That will release the pressure a bit.

    Thanks Ffion.

A first sight of Mitchell Santner in this innings, bowling at his home IPL ground here in Chennai.

Hashmat smokes him down the ground for four. A first boundary in five overs.

A powerplay very much dominated by New Zealand as Matt Henry sends down their third consecutive maiden.

With Afghanistan facing a big uphill battle, here is Mike Peter to take you through the next stages of their chase.

Tough work for Afghanistan at the moment. Another maiden and they're going nowhere.

Rahmat Shah is clattered on the helmet by a sharp Trent Boult bouncer.

He's all right, walking around and chatting as the medics go through the concussion protocols.

Here's how Trent Boult joined the wicket-taking party to get rid of Ibrahim Zadran.

The pitch does feel quicker than during the first innings. The New Zealand bowlers have got that extra bit of zip about them.

A Matt Henry maiden adds to the pressure.

Afghanistan aren't the first - and certainly won't be the last - to struggle against the new ball pair of Henry and Boult.

Every ball seems to be zipping past the edge at the moment.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz looked like he was going to provide more entertainment tonight, but Matt Henry made sure his fun was short-lived.

Just the one run and a wicket from Trent Boult's over.

    A magician.

Trent Boult will be pretty happy about that.

He is usually among the top wicket-takers at World Cups but it's been lean pickings for him so far this tournament. So that will make him feel better.

    Ibrahim c Santner b Boult 14 (Afg 27-2)

    Another! Both openers gone.

Ibrahim Zadran gets a leading edge, and Mitchell Santner takes the simplest of catches at cover to dent Afghanistan's chances further.

Trent Boult gets his reward for a consistent start, and New Zealand are in complete control.

  19. Afg 27-1published at 6 overs

That wicket takes Matt Henry to the top of the wicket-taking charts in the tournament so far.

He has nine in three matches, one ahead of Jasprit Bumrah with eight.

Matt Henry is very happy about this, he doesn't tend to celebrate. It's because he's just been hit down the ground. He's used up two overs worth of energy celebrating.
