Sam Cook gets Ben Duckett nibbling away outside his off stump, Adam Rossington throws the ball up in the air but all that happens is the opener trundles around his crease remonstrating with himself.
Two balls later, Duckett is getting a replacement bat after a leg-side hoick seems to cause him a problem.
He gets a choice of three to pick from, and it does the trick as he flays a cut to the boundary off the next delivery.
Kent 11-0 v Somerset
Jake Ball is into his fourth over as a Somerset bowler.
There has been one boundary from Ben Compton but otherwise it has been rather tidy stuff.
In fact, the last four overs from Ball and Josh Davey have not seen a run and Compton's partner Tawanda Muyeye is still looking for his first run after 19 balls.

Chris Rushworth ends the Joe Leach cameo with a ball that bounces and leaves the batter outside off stump.
Leach is squared up on the crease, edging the ball to Rob Yates off the shoulder of the bat.
That's a fine slip catch, taken above head height and Warwickshire are one strike away from wrapping up the innings.

Jamie Porter overpitches outside off and Ben Duckett's eyes light up - he slaps the seamer through the offside for another boundary.
The pitch is shifted a bit over to one side iof the square, but Duckett had no problems piercing the longer side of the ground there.
Porter then drops short outside off and Haseeb Hameed pokes him away behind point for four off the back foot.

A fine start to the season for the Northants captain, who has looked comfortable at the crease today.
He reaches a deserved half century off 130 balls with a drive down the ground off Robinson for his fifth four.
That's his 36th half century in first-class cricket.

It was a good sharp low catch by Mousley, but Warwickshire have the breakthrough.

The second ball of his 22nd over is back of a length with enough width for Joe Leach to swing the ball over the slips off the outside edge for four.

Short, wide and flayed by Karun Nair over point for six!
That's the 50 partnership with Procter in 119 balls.
The second ball is also short and wide, giving Nair plenty of room to scythe the ball through extra cover for four.

Colin Ingram tucks one into the legside and that brings up the 400 and his team's fourth batting point.
They have just over seven overs to get 50 more to claim the fifth batting point.
And don't worry about Sam Northeast losing concentration. He made a PB of 410 against Leicestershire in 2022!

Ollie Robinson is a tad leg side and Karun Nair turns the bowler behind square for a single.
Four slips in again for Luke Procter, who is forward to drive down the ground but Robinson blocks it for no run.
Robinson is round the wicket to Procter, who deflects a leg side ball fine for a single.
Three slips and a short mid off in for Nair, who is on the back foot driving through the off side for a single.
Steady start for Northants so far.

It's compare and contrast as the former England opener swipes horribly at the next one, but it misses the edge.

Early breakthrough for the hosts, who could've hardly imagined keeping the Pears under 400 after the fluency of much of the batting yesterday.
