    FT: Tyrone 1-24 Cavan 0-20

Another day of the Ulster SFC in the books then.

Tyrone did the majority of their work in the first half and took a 10-point lead into the interval.

They threatened to run away with things in the opening minutes of the second half but, thanks to Dara McVeety's haul of two-pointers, the visitors cut the deficit to just six.

Conn Kilpatrick's goal with eight minutes remaining, though, secured safe passage through to the semi-finals.

    All without Darragh Canavan too.

A fine start to championship football under Malachy O'Rourke for the Red Hands...it'll be a different proposition up against All-Ireland champions Armagh in the last four, though!

You can read Orla Bannon's report from the game here.

We'll be back on Saturday with the next quarter-final as Down host Fermanagh, again live onBBC iPlayer and BBC Two NI.

There'll be plenty of reaction to this weekend's games, and build-up to the remaining quarter-finals, before then.

    Thanks for joining us today!

Former Tyrone forward and All-Ireland winner on BBC Sport

You can only play what's in front of you. Armagh is going to be a massive test, they're the All-Ireland champions.

It's going to be the old rivalry again but, look, it's a massive ask for Tyrone at the minute.

Armagh weren't really that impressive yesterday either, but they got over the line.

It's going to be a different kettle of fish.

  3. 'Huge for this team'published at 18:11 British Summer Time 13 April

    FT: Tyrone 1-24 Cavan 0-20

Tyrone's Kieran McGeeney, speaking to BBC Sport NI: "It was huge for this team to get over the line considering we got relegated earlier this year. We needed to put on a performance for the fans and there's always the fear factor after last year. We're just extremely glad to get through the first round."

I think Cavan will be extremely disappointed with their first-half non-performance. They didn't lay a hand on Tyrone.

Malachy O'Rourke will be very happy. A first day out and they hit he ground running. You can only beat what is in front you. There wasn't a finger laid on Tyrone and you get what you deserve in Championship football when you don't do those things.

Cavan will need plenty more of that if they're to get back into this one, though.
