Michael van Gerwen 5-10 Raymond van Barneveld

Barney, with two match darts, makes easy work of beating MVG in the final leg to put his first win on the board of the 2017 Champions League of Darts.

He tops group A going into the evening session.

MVG meanwhile, just hasn't looked up for it. His body language says it all.

He's thrown just five of his 16 checkouts and it's not been the greatest afternoon for him.

MVG misses a 62 checkout on double 16, leaving Barney to clean up with a simple double tops.

Barney's just a leg from victory. Surely this is all over!

    SEVENTH HEAVEN.

Again, not to be outdone by Barney throwing his seventh 180 of the match, MVG throws his own and punishes his compatriot for missing double 16 by dispatching double 2 with ease.

Magnificent darts. We are witnessing something special here.

Right after clinching his sixth maximum of the match, Barney checks out 130 with a bullseye finish to move within two legs of victory against MVG.

That was the leg MVG needed coming straight back in from the break.

He takes out 12 with an easy double six to pull it back again.

    Is the comeback on?

    IT'S RAINING MAXIMUMS!

This time it's MVG, who throws his fourth and the tenth in total so far in this match.

However, Barney punishes him for missing three darts on double 20 to nail double 16 at the first attempt and go in well on top at the break.

Lovely finish from MVG. Under pressure from Barney steamrollering his way through this match, he takes out 65 with a pinpoint accurate 25 and double tops.

He'll need more of this sort of form to win, though.

    MR MAXIMUM STRIKES AGAIN.

Calm down Barney, mate. He's producing some fabulous darts in Cardiff. This time he takes out 92 to hold his throw and move four sets ahead.

I'm getting a fair bit of mileage out of this graphic..

Barney throws yet another maximum on his way to a tremendous 12-darter - finishing on a 136 checkout.

    Stop it now, Barney.

He's on fire with these maximums! He throws his fourth of the afternoon but he's getting frustrated as he misses double tops and two attempts at double 10.

Despite an MVG 180, Barney holds his nerve to bag double two on his way to the sixth leg.

    SHANGHAI!

No 180 in this leg from either player but Barney stabs his arrows straight into T20, 20 and double tops to move two legs ahead of MVG.
