ParalympicsGB archers David Phillips and Tania Nadaraja were knocked out at the quarter-final stage of the recurve mixed team competition in a tense shoot-off by top seeds Iran 5-4.

Earlier, Phillips and Nadaraja had beaten Chinese Taipei 6-2 in the last 16 round after finishing eighth in their qualifying event on Saturday.

Cwnbran’s Phillips faces Francisco Cordeiro of Brazil in the individual event on Tuesday while Nadaraja takes on Mongolian Oyun-Erdene Buyanjargal on Thursday.

There is the prospect of double gold in table tennis for Britain, after Will Bayley and Rob Davies progressed to their finals.

Bayley (pictured), who was born with the muscle-shortening illness arthrogryposis and was a silver medallist four years ago, beat Spain's Jordi Morales 3-1 in the class seven to set up a gold-medal match with Israel Stroh of Brazil on Monday.

Davies, who uses a wheelchair after breaking his neck playing rugby, overcame Endre Major of Hungary 3-1 in his semi-final and will meet south Korean Young Dae Joo in the class 1 final on Tuesday.

There's an unbelievable story regarding Davies. The day he suffered his neck injury he was airlifted to hospital - earlier that same day his twin brother had been in the same helicopter after he was involved in a car accident travelling to Rob's rugby game.

Some wheelchair tennis to update you on. It was easy for the British pair of Jordanne Whiley and Lucy Shuker as they won 6-0 6-0 against Chile's Macarena Cabrillana and Francisca Mardones in the quarter-finals of the women's doubles.

Alfie Hewitt and Gordon Reid also won 6-1 6-2 in the second round of the men's doubles against Im Ho Won and Lee Ha Gel of South Korea.

Andy Lapthorne and Jamie Urdkein lost in the quad doubles semi-final, but will still have a chance to play for a bronze medal.

Andy Small spoke to us earlier at British House in Rio. He says he's on "cloud nine". The 23-year-old from Nantwich in the north west tells me when he was born in Whitechapel in London in 1993 he weighed just 1lb 6oz and was given a 5% chance of living. At the time, he was the smallest baby to survive infancy.

He only took up wheelchair racing after being inspired by watching Hannah Cockcroft and David Weir at London 2012 and has now won a medal at his first major global championship with his bronze in the men's T33 100m yesterday.

“It has been absolutely heaving here. There are so many people and what is notable is how many local people that have turned out. Being a Sunday night helps, there are families, babies in prams, young children with lots of Neymar Brazil shirts on show.

"The Rio organisers released some statistics yesterday and it makes encouraging reading. Apparently last night was a sell-out, with 167,000 tickets sold. That is 10,000 more than the busiest day during the Olympics.

"This is fantastic given that only a month ago only 12% of tickets had been sold. Obviously there has been a big campaign to get people to come, the fill the seats campaign, with ticket prices slashed and it seems to have worked.

"The Brazilians have really embraced the Paralympic Games. They are excited, they are happy and enjoying the atmosphere.”

David Weir comfortably won his heat to make tomorrow's final but he told BBC Radio 5 live he almost went home to be with his partner for the birth of his son.

“It was a nice treat this afternoon (to hear about the baby)," said Weir. "Emily has been in a bit of pain over the past 24 hours in hospital. It was quite tough this morning, but once I saw he was healthy and she was OK then I was a bit more relaxed.

"Obviously I was a bit gutted I didn’t see him being born, but what can I do? There was nothing I could do, I had to come here and do what I do - this is my sport. It's unfortunate he had to be ready the week I was out here.

"It did take a lot of effort to get on that plane and I made a few phone calls to see if I should come home. But Emily is a strong girl and made me get on that plane. If it wasn’t for her, I probably wouldn’t be in Rio."

GB's Olivia Breen failed to make the second half of the long jump T38 final so will finish 12th with a longest jump of 3.99m - her personal best is 4.34m.

BBC Sport's Paralympics reporter in Rio

Jo Butterfield's world changed completely when she went into hospital in January 2010 for an operation on a tumour on her spinal cord.

She was told there was a 0.01% chance of paralysis but woke up paralysed from the waist down.

Sport formed a key part of her rehab and she made her GB debut just two years ago and it has been a meteoric rise since for the 37-year-old.

Her roommate here in Rio is sprinter Georgie Hermitage and the pair now have matching gold medals both at world and Paralympic level.

She tells BBC Radio 5 live: "It wasn’t meant to be in this race but I did enjoy trying to get that gold. It was so exciting, I love trying to be the best, it is amazing.

"The Australians and the Americans are very powerful but Great Britain have shown we are really strong too. I am trying to keep a huge smile on my face, enjoying every minute and I still have my backstroke to go."    

It is two British flags being raised at the same time in the pool at the moment, after Bethany Firth's gold and Jessica-Jane Applegate's silver in the women's 200m freestyle S14 final.

A big smile on Firth's face, contrasted with Applegate, who admitted she was 'gutted' to not retain the title she won in London four years ago.

The Brazilian crowd went mad for blind sprinter Felipe Gomes in the T11 100m final but in a fast and furious race he was denied gold by American rival David Brown who set a new Paralympic record of 10.99 seconds.

It was the fullest the stadium has been so far at the Games and the athletes rose to the occasion brilliantly but nothing would have given them greater pleasure than a home gold.

Brown may have been too good but Gomes and his guide Jonas de Lima Silva relished the moment with a new personal best of 10.99 seconds.

Some quotes from Stephanie Millward, who has just won a bronze in the women's 100m freestyle S8. She has been speaking to Channel 4: "I knew it would be very tough and I'm very pleased to get a medal. It was close, but I'm loving this Paralympics. You just hope to get the best result you can."

Great Britain's Stephanie Millward cannot get that elusive gold medal, but still has another Paralympic medal to add to her tally.

She wins bronze in the women's 100m freestyle S8 event, the seventh Paralympic medal of her career.

The 34-year-old from Manchester narrowly misses out on gold in a thrilling finish, with Australian duo Maddison Elliott and Lakeisha Patterson, who are both half the age of the Brit, taking gold and silver respectively.

Millward, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when she was 17, now has four silvers and three bronzes in her career. But there are three more chances for gold - the 100m backstroke, 50m freestyle and 200m individual medley.

Josef Craig, Britain's latest medallist, tells Channel 4: "I'm just a bit disappointed that I didn't get first, that is what I've been working on.

"A personal best is good and I just want to do my best for the relay later in the week.

"You leave it all in the pool and I've done that to get a medal in the S8.

"I didn't think I would get a medal at S8 and I think I'm the first person to win successive medals after moving up a category. I am where I am, I'm back on the podium, which I never thought I would be."
