Kevin De Bruyne's free-kick isn't affected by the excess shaving foam, but he might want to use it as an excuse as it flies out of play for a goal-kick. Then the ex-Chelsea player wins a corner which is headed clear by the Algerians.
Eden Hazard has his feet nibbled at again by some scurrying Algerian defenders, winning a free-kick in the left channel about 35 yards out. Referee Marco Rodriguez doesn't quite have the hang of the vanishing spray yet - putting a mound of the stuff in front of free-kick taker Kevin De Bruyne. Bet the Mexican is the kind of guy who gets shaving foam all over the mirror....
James:, external Utter stupidity from Jan Vertonghen. Stone wall penalty. This would be a huge shock!
Josh:, external Belgium look a pale imitation of what literally everyone (including me) built them up to be ahead of the tournament.
Aman:, external Seems like Belgium have bought into their own hype.

"Algeria's celebrations were like they had won the World Cup. They were absolutely delighted."
Not surprised Danny - it was their first World Cup goal since 1986. Robert Palmer was still in the UK charts for goodness sake...
Within all that drama, I forgot to tell you that Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen was booked for tugging back Sofiane Feghouli. Now you know. He tries to make amends at the opposite end, setting up an attack down the Algerian right which ends in Mousa Dembele shooting wide.

"Vincent Kompany is not happy with Jan Vertonghen. He was caught out of position, tugged Sofiane Feghouli back and the ref had no hesitation. A very cool penalty, awful defending from Belgium.
"Now we have a game on our hands. Belgium are going to have to attack now."

Algeria midfielder Sofiane Feghouli picks himself up from the turf, dusts himself down and.... coolly strokes the spot-kick past Belgium keeper Thibaut Courtois. What a start for the Africans!
Oh hello. This was not in the script. Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen hauls down Sofiane Feghouli to hand Algeria a golden chance...
Here's the Axeman as he tries to chop through the Algerian defence. Belgium midfielder Axel Witsel unleashes a shot from just outside the Algeria area but goalkeeper Rais Mbolhi is equal to it, punching clear the danger.
Tola:, external Almost 20 minutes in and it's already a better game than the whole Iran vs Nigeria match.
James Daniel:, external Did everyone watch the same games as I did, or am I the only one Tottenham fan not so impressed with Bentaleb?
Murali:, external Belgium should have started Adnan Januzaj, could have been a real game changer.

Here's what 36-year-old defender Daniel van Buyten is there to do for Belgium - defend. But he does that very unconvincingly as his lack of mobility is exposed by Algeria forward Riyad Mahrez. The Leicester player wriggles free in a central position but shoots into the side netting.
Bit surprised Belgium boss Marc Wilmots plumped for veteran centre-back Daniel van Buyten over Arsenal's Thomas Vermaelen. But it wasn't for his attacking threat. The Bayern Munich player lurches forward from the back and attempts a very ambitious shot from distance, which is blocked by a white Algerian shirt.

"Belgium are just starting to get into the game. They are beginning to probe and Algeria are getting deeper and deeper. Belgium have some special players and if they enjoy possession they can make things happen."

Less than 13 minutes into the game and here's our first Mexican Wave. And that's as long as it takes Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku to get his boots mucky for the first time. The Chelsea powerhouse rolls his eyes to the sky as Nacer Chadli's pass is too strong for him. All Belgium possession at the moment.
Preston and former England and Bolton striker Kevin Davies has tweeted, external a picture of his back garden, which he has transformed into a Copacabana beach for the World Cup.

Belgium enjoy a decent spell of possession - which is greeted by whistles from the large Algerian contingent in the Belo Horizonte stands. Holding midfielder Axel Witsel, known as the Axeman, is the man who is making the Belgians tick at the moment, with all their play going through the Zenit St Petersburg player. No way through the sturdy Algerian backline yet.
Stats provider Infostrada Sports on Twitter:, external This is the first match in World Cup history that no player in Belgium's starting XI is playing in Belgium's domestic league.

Here's our first glimpse of Belgium's Eden Hazard, who can't wriggle clear of Algeria defender Mehdi Mustafa. The France-based defender breathes heavily down his neck, and does the same moments later to dump the Chelsea man on to his backside.
