City have had a dreadful first five minutes but suddenly craft a decent opening of their own. Sergio Aguero wriggles out of the clutches of his marker, looks up and finds the overlapping Jesus Navas. The fleet-footed Spaniard's first touch is not quite right, and he then shoots over the top.

"The silence is absolutely deafening. It's incredible.

"The last thing you want to do is give the opposition a leg up.

Wow! What a start! I mentioned that CSKA Moscow have a camouflage style kit and it seems to do the trick, Yaya Toure completely loses Seydou Doumbia and the striker is free to head home a left-wing free-kick.

    Dreadful, dreadful defending.

"Kurt Zouma gets his first Champions League start for Chelsea tonight. I was at Shrewsbury last week when the 20-year-old started in the Capital One Cup in the centre of defence alongside Gary Cahill. Tonight he's partnering John Terry.

"For a young player, who only turned 20 in the last few days, this is a really good blooding. It's not bad being thrown-in at the deep end if you have experienced lifeguards alongside you."

Here's what some of you have to say on the Match of the Day Facebook page, external about Man City's "missing ingredient" in Europe:

Joe Squire: They seem too complacent/arrogant sometimes, so maybe their attitude needs changing. They turn up expecting a win but don't hit full throttle quickly enough. When they get going they are capable of beating anyone.
