Celtic are having the better of the opening exchanges in Perth, with Kris Commons and Emilio Izaguirre looking lively, but we're yet to see a clear attempt on goal.

  7. Postpublished at 19:54 British Summer Time 13 August 2014

BBC Sportsound pundits Billy Dodds and Derek Ferguson are discussing the shade of green of Kilmarnock's new surface. Derek thinks it's a little dull and asks if you get a colour chart when picking the astroturf. A "November green", is the verdict from Dodds at Rugby Park.

  8. Dundee United 0-0 Motherwellpublished at 19:52 British Summer Time 13 August 2014

Radoslaw Cierzniak had a few unsure moment with crosses at the weekend and the Dundee United goalkeeper has another tonight when he flaps at a cross but he escapes on this occasion.

Rory McKenzie has been lively for Kilmarnock in the opening exchanges, firing off a couple of shots, but nothing to test Jamie Langfield.

    St Mirren 0-0 Hamilton

A 30-yard shot from St Mirren's Kenny McLean signals the Buddies' intent in Paisley versus Hamilton Accies - remember, he signed a new two-year contract with Saints over the summer.

  11. KICK-OFFpublished at 19:47 British Summer Time 13 August 2014

Most of the games are underway... Hold on to your hats! I can sense goals and lots of them...

  12. Postpublished at 19:46 British Summer Time 13 August 2014

BBC Scotland's Richard Wilson at Tanandice: "Dundee United will look to build on their impressive opening day victory over Aberdeen, when they were solid at the back and bold on the counter. Can a depleted Motherwell contain their hosts at Tannadice? In four encounters last season, United won three and the other was drawn. Dow, Armstrong, Mackay-Steven and Ciftci will all be looking to remind us that there was more to United last season than the promise of Ryan Gauld and Andrew Robertson."

bringthemonjpn: "#bbcsportscot St J look to play a 4-3-3 against a Celtic playing a newbie in goals... Who knows what might happen?"

Toniwater: "#bbcsportscot Both The Tic & StJ have had Euro matches under their belts so this should be a cracker! #Contenders"

Scott in Edinburgh, an Accies fan: "These are the games we need to take points from if we are to stand a chance of staying up. Our club ethos is a good one but one wonders if it'll sustain us through a season in the top flight... In Alex we trust. G'wan the Accies."

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes on BBC Radio Scotland: "Any time you have a disappointed result, like we did on Sunday, everybody's keen to get a response. Hopefully we see that. We move on quickly to this one.

"I watched Kilmarnock on Saturday and I think Allan's made some decent signings. They look a capable side this year."

St Mirren played some nice stuff in their 1-0 loss at Motherwell but were blunt in attack without injured striker Steven Thompson.

Jim Goodwin may be part of the coaching set-up now but that doesn't appear to altered his approach and he is missing tonight after getting his marching orders at Fir Park.

I believe "wake-up call" is the term for Hamilton's home defeat at the weekend. The Accies have a small squad and will need influential midfielder Tony Andreu to make a hasty return to fitness.

  17. Postpublished at 19:38 British Summer Time 13 August 2014

A big cheer goes up from the St Johnstone fans as chairman Steve Brown brings out the Scottish Cup for a wee reminder of last season's success.

St Johnstone may have sold star striker Stevie May but they have done some excellent business in tying down manager Tommy Wright to a new deal.

The home side are always very well organised and will be buoyed by a good win in Dingwall.

Celtic may have been deflated after their mauling from Legia Warsaw but spirits are sure to have been lifted by their Champions League reprieve.

Ronny Deila will get his first taste of domestic action and the new manager needs a swift tonic before next week's meeting with Maribor.

St Johnstone and Celtic shared six goals the last time they met at McDiarmid Park, so let's hope for another goal rush in Perth.

John McEnerney: "#bbcsportscot Tough opener for The Hoops tonight, StJ & The Dons will be the main contenders for Celtic's crown! Mon The Hoops"

Partick Thistle fans had to wait a long, long time for a home win last term. It was February before the Firhill faithful could celebrate on their own patch.

Attacking full-back Aaron Taylor-Sinclair has gone but manager Alan Archibald has retained much of his squad, while Ryan Stevenson should beef up an attack that was guilty of not putting teams away when on top.

Ross County have drafted in another collection of new faces from around Europe and Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to St Johnstone may suggest they need time to get to know each other.
