Joel: Re Denzel Shines [20:20] - As a Spurs fan I think talk of sacking managers is really unhelpful. Daniel Levy has tried that and put simply, it hasn't worked. I've got faith in Pochettino and although it may be the unpopular opinion, I'd rather lose games to begin with and have something to build on rather than the constant roundabout of managers who keep changing the ethos.

We have League Cup action in Scotland tonight too.

Celtic play Hearts - which you can watch as well - while at New Douglas Park, Hamilton Academical face Motherwell in the first Lanarkshire derby of the season.

And then to top it all off on Tayside, Dundee and Dundee United meet for the second time in four days. United won 4-1 at Dens Park on Sunday.

Like that match, this evening's game at Tannadice is a sell-out.

Chelsea and Bolton have had contrasting seasons so far, with Jose Mourinho's side a Frank Lampard goal away from domestic perfection and Dougie Freedman's Championship side only above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Sheffield Wednesday will also be roared on by 5,400 fans who have made the short 37-mile trip across the Pennines and City boss Manuel Pellegrini is wary of the threat posed by lower-league sides in their 'big day out'.

Remember (as a wary Pellegrini does) the Blues were dumped out of the last season's FA Cup by Wednesday's Championship cohorts Wigan.

"Every time that we play in this competition when you play against a Championship team it is very difficult. The motivation is not the same and they will come here and try to win," says the Chilean.

"He did a radio advert for me when I was at Match Weekly. We recorded it at Radio Trent and he said he must be back at the City Ground by 8pm to attend a board meeting. He only had one line listing all the stars contributing to the first issue. I knew his voice would be instantly recognisable on radio but he couldn't get it right. Fresh from a first league win this season, and what was a first victory at Tottenham since 1984, West Brom head coach Alan Irvine must have been a very happy man on Sunday night.

Those three points have lifted the pressure that was starting to form after the Baggies failed to even score a goal in their previous three league matches.

However, Irvine said afterwards "relief is not the overriding emotion - the overriding emotion is definitely delight for the players".

They take on a Hull side not quite as buoyant following a week in which they twice let leads slip to West Ham and then Newcastle.

It seems an awful long time ago now but Manchester City are the holders of the Capital One Cup, eventually beating Sunderland 3-1 in the final in March.

Last night the League Cup served up a moment of real drama. Thirty of them to be precise.

There were times at Anfield when it looked like we may never see a winner between Liverpool and Middlesbrough, but eventually Boro winger Albert Adomah blazed his penalty into the Kop and the mammoth shootout was won.

Tonight the final seven Premier League sides standing are in action as holders Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, West Brom and Hull aim for a place in the last 16.
