GOAL
Tottenham 2-1 Nottingham Forest - Roberto Soldado (83 mins)
I'm not sure that Roberto Soldado has had a meaningful touch all night - but he may have the most important one of all! Andros Townsend shoots again, 25 yards out, low and hard, and Soldado reacts well to stick out a boot and divert the ball into the roof of the net.

Burnley defender, and BBC summariser, Steven Reid: "Wednesday will be really disappointed with that because they defended crosses so well in the first half. Owls boss Stuart Gray will be so disappointed. The message at half-time will have been to keep out City for as long as possible to frustrate them. Conceding so early is the nightmare scenario."

Joel: Re Denzel Shines [20:20] - As a Spurs fan I think talk of sacking managers is really unhelpful. Daniel Levy has tried that and put simply, it hasn't worked. I've got faith in Pochettino and although it may be the unpopular opinion, I'd rather lose games to begin with and have something to build on rather than the constant roundabout of managers who keep changing the ethos.
GOAL
Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle - Emmanuele Riviere (36 mins)
Pick that one out! Newcastle striker Emmanuele Riviere makes no mistake with a nonchalant finish from 20 yards, left-footed, curled into the corner. His first goal for the club.
HALF-TIME

Burnley defender, and BBC summariser, Steven Reid: "Sheffield Wednesday will be delighted with that half. They have defended well and had one or two half chances on the break. But they haven't been able to pick out Edin Dzeko with any of their crosses."

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra
Burnley defender Steven Reid: "Whoever Manuel Pellegrini picked meant it was going to be a strong Man City side because of the quality in their squad. But Sheffield Wednesday can go into the game and have a go because they have got nothing to lose. Man City have shown that they can concede goals and have also lost to lower league opposition."

Matt on a train home and hoping for an Owls upset!: Nice choice for goal of the day, with Steve Hodge dragging the Spurs player down on the end of the wall so Pearce's shot was not blocked!

Just 10 minutes or so until kick-off at a slowly filling White Hart Lane. Is this an unwanted distraction for Stuart Pearce's visitors as they aim for promotion back into the top flight? Or would a win tonight breed confidence at the City Ground?

Matthew Davison: Chelsea's cup team could finish in the top four in most leagues
Dave Plummer: Don't think that Spurs side is disrespectful. Most of them should be the 1st eleven!
Mo Owais: Nastasic not even making bench for city even though he is of the best young defenders in the game. Sad he is being forced out.
Your Ceefax match reports
We asked for your League Cup match reports to help us celebrate 40 years since the introduction of Ceefax - and almost 500 of you had sent them through to us by Wednesday morning.
The reports were of a very high standard - suggesting that many of you have an excellent grasp of the tricky business of telling the story of a football match in 80 words.

North of the border
We have League Cup action in Scotland tonight too.
Celtic play Hearts - which you can watch as well - while at New Douglas Park, Hamilton Academical face Motherwell in the first Lanarkshire derby of the season.
And then to top it all off on Tayside, Dundee and Dundee United meet for the second time in four days. United won 4-1 at Dens Park on Sunday.
Like that match, this evening's game at Tannadice is a sell-out.

Sheffield Wednesday will also be roared on by 5,400 fans who have made the short 37-mile trip across the Pennines and City boss Manuel Pellegrini is wary of the threat posed by lower-league sides in their 'big day out'.
Remember (as a wary Pellegrini does) the Blues were dumped out of the last season's FA Cup by Wednesday's Championship cohorts Wigan.
"Every time that we play in this competition when you play against a Championship team it is very difficult. The motivation is not the same and they will come here and try to win," says the Chilean.

"He did a radio advert for me when I was at Match Weekly. We recorded it at Radio Trent and he said he must be back at the City Ground by 8pm to attend a board meeting. He only had one line listing all the stars contributing to the first issue. I knew his voice would be instantly recognisable on radio but he couldn't get it right. To my horror, I looked at my watch and it was 8.30! "Brian," I said, "it's 8.30 and you're late for the board. "Bugger the board, we'll get this right first" - which he did eventually."

Premier League champions Man City are winless in four matches. Championship side Sheffield Wednesday have lost just one of their 10 games. Will that equal a Cupset? Boss Stuart Gray says he will let the Owls loose into the Manchester night in a bid to hunt down their star-studded hosts.
"Very rarely do you get these opportunities so we'll play with a freedom, we'll play relaxed, we'll be composed but one thing we will do is play with 100% commitment as well," he says.

Crystal Palace v Newcastle (20:00 BST)
Alan Pardew's cup heroics have made him a legend at Crystal Palace, but he will be aiming to dump his former club out of the Capital One Cup when Newcastle visit Selhurst Park on Wednesday.
Papiss Cisse's super-sub cameo on Saturday has given Pardew some respite but defeat here will turn the pressure up another notch on the beleaguered Magpies manager, whose side are bottom of the table.
Palace fans will know what their Newcastle counterparts are going through, having been a fixture in the relegation zone themselves for much of the first half of last season.

West Brom v Hull (20:00 BST)
Fresh from a first league win this season, and what was a first victory at Tottenham since 1984, West Brom head coach Alan Irvine must have been a very happy man on Sunday night.
Those three points have lifted the pressure that was starting to form after the Baggies failed to even score a goal in their previous three league matches.
However, Irvine said afterwards "relief is not the overriding emotion - the overriding emotion is definitely delight for the players".
They take on a Hull side not quite as buoyant following a week in which they twice let leads slip to West Ham and then Newcastle.

It seems an awful long time ago now but Manchester City are the holders of the Capital One Cup, eventually beating Sunderland 3-1 in the final in March.

Let's get the job done
Last night the League Cup served up a moment of real drama. Thirty of them to be precise.
There were times at Anfield when it looked like we may never see a winner between Liverpool and Middlesbrough, but eventually Boro winger Albert Adomah blazed his penalty into the Kop and the mammoth shootout was won.
Tonight the final seven Premier League sides standing are in action as holders Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, West Brom and Hull aim for a place in the last 16.
Routine wins inside the 90 minutes? Or shootout central again?
