West Brom manager Alan Irvine looks like he's lost a pound and found a penny. But he's got to be proud of the Baggies once the disappointment has dissipated.
West Brom break and, as Youssouf Mulumbu skins Marcos Rojo on the halfway line, the defender brings down the midfielder. Booking. But United can get men back.
Man Utd win a free-kick on the halfway line. Launched forward and it's cleared. Somehow.

"With all of the money Manchester United have spent this summer, to lose away from home against a side that isn't a Chelsea, isn't a Manchester City and a side that won't challenge for anything this season, is that acceptable?"
Andre Wisdom, who is on loan from Liverpool at West Brom, cracks a shot over the bar. West Brom continue to battle for every ball - underlined by playmaker Stephane Sessegnon, who is really tracking back to help the Baggies midfield now.
Denise Hale:, external Balotelli or Berahino? Why didn't Liverpool buy Berahino?

"What a game we've had tonight, two teams have gone for it and it's been a great advert for the Premier League."
