Liam Buchanan levels the score with a coolly taken spot-kick at Falkirk.
Osman Sow scores his seventh goal of the season with a shot that crashes off the crossbar and comes down behind the Queens goal-line.
Andrew Considine heads wide when it looks easier to score what should have been his second goal of the game after a poor attempt from Aberdeen team-mate Ash Taylor falls kindly into his path.
Andy Considine heads home Aberdeen's first goal at Dens Park, where they currently lead the Dark Blues 2-1.
A superb run and pass by Gary Harkins gives Dundee another chance to level against Aberdeen, but David Clarkson's effort strikes the post.
St Mirren's Gregg Wylde goes down in the box under a challenge from St Johnstone's David Wotherspoon, but despite not actually claiming for a penalty - the visiting support are baying at the referee for a spot-kick. Nothing given.
Mark in Carluke: "When will Stuart McCall's media buddies realise this is the first year he has a team that is of his own building? His tactics and player buying abilities are atrocious. The Motherwell fans are sick of dire performances. When will this be mentioned by the media?"
Dundee go close again when Jim McAlister's cross just evades David Clarkson as the striker loses marker Shay Logan.
Jason Naismith scores for St Mirren with a right-foot shot from 25-yards, right past Alan Mannus and into the top corner to take the lead over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park.
BBC Scotland football pundit Allan Preston at McDiarmid Park:
"One of the worst corners I've ever seen taken by Gregg Wylde. He ran up and tried to feign taking the corner, stopped, then fell and landed on top of the ball. This game is rotten. It's really poor - too many slack passes and nothing of any quality. Neither keeper has been called upon at all."
Aberdeen defender Shay Logan will want to claim it but it looks like Dundee's James McPake is being "credited" with scoring an own-goal to give the Dons the lead.
BBC Scotland football pundit Michael Stewart:
"There were lots of pundits who said Gary Harkins and Paul McGowan could not play in the same midfield and yet both are here performing well for Dundee."
Len, Fyfe: "Here we go again losing a goal a minute after scoring one, seem to remember that happening on Tuesday, defence is a problem, hope Russell Anderson is fit soon."
Lewis Macleod scores with a spectacular overhead kick to put Rangers a goal up against Livingston.
At Dens, David Clarkson climbs above Shay Logan to meet a Paul McGinn cross and the Dundee striker should do better than head wide.
BBC Scotland football pundit Michael Stewart:
"I am looking at Aberdeen just now and they seem to be trying to accommodate players and be quite fluid have not really got a formation."
Steven Lawless does the set-up work for Partick, playing a delightful ball to Stuart Bannigan who finds the back of the net with a left-foot effort despite the efforts of goalkeeper Dan Twardzik.
At Firhill, Josh Law bursts down the left for the visitors and his delivery is met by Motherwell forward Henrik Ojamaa but his near-post header crashes back off the bar.
Allan Preston at McDiarmid Park for St Johnstone v St Mirren:
"The Buddies have the better of the possession, but there's been no goalmouth action to speak of, but the visitors have certainly had the better start."
Mark, Kilbirnie: "Jonny Hayes will be a big miss for us today, but hope we still have enough about us to go and get the valuable 3 points. COYR."
Andrew, Richhill: "This game is symptomatic of Aberdeen's sluggish start to the season. They can't hold onto a lead because of poor defending."
