Hull City manager Steve Bruce: "We found that very difficult from the first minute to the last. When you come here, you need to play to your best and we didn't get anywhere near that.

"We've gifted them goals and we've been rightly punished. It was total domination. The one thing you need to do is play well to have a chance.

"You could say Manchester United played well, and they did, but we contributed to that. We made awful mistakes all over the pitch. A really difficult afternoon for us."

Pretty much all Chelsea in the opening 20 minutes with the visitors enjoying 70% possession. That's quite a lot.

"Chelsea counter attack and hit the post. But it came from a Sunderland free-kick and you just can't do that. You have a chance to test the opponent and he puts in a poor free-kick."

So close for Chelsea as Willian lets fly from 18 yards with a fiercely struck low shot which rebounds off the post. A warning for Sunderland who moments earlier had spurned a good set-piece chance after Jack Rodwell was hauled down by Branislav Ivanovic.

    Final Score

"Sometimes when you don't have a good first 45 minutes you struggle to turn it around, but the Liverpool team of the second half was totally different. They came out with energy, Steven Gerrard came off the bench as more of an attacker and he gave the crowd one hell of a lift, and Glen Johnson typified a top performance which they desperately needed."

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers: "I thought the players were absolutely incredible. The organisation was very strong and what they had to cope with they coped with very well. We created chances in the game and as it went on I thought the goal was coming. I thought we fully deserved it and to keep a clean sheet against a very good side was pleasing as well.

"Glen Johnson shows great courage and bravery to stick his head in there for the goal. He's had a few stitches in his head but he has got his goal and a very important win for us. We encourage the full-backs at the right time to go forward and he got his reward.

"They have got some quality players and you need that bit of luck. As I say, we deserved to win."

    Neil WarnockImage source, PA

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock: "After a terrible start, as bad as I have seen us play in the first 15 minutes, we regrouped and I thought we always looked a threat. I thought there were opportunities to win the game.

On Palace's penalty which Mile Jedinak converted for the equaliser: "I thought it was a penalty, Jonjo Shelvey stops Marouane Chamakh from getting the ball. They're a good group of lads, they work hard, we're limited but it's great the lads are doing what they're doing.

"It's a great point and the fans were brilliant again. Points in the Premier League are so hard to gather and when you come to Swansea nothing is easy here."

  10. Postpublished at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2014

Bright start by the hosts. Don't think Chelsea are going to win this one 5-0.

  11. Postpublished at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2014

Manchester United, Tottenham and Everton have all been frustrated at the Stadium of Light. And Sunderland are getting stuck into the leaders. Chelsea carelessly concede possession inside their own half allowing Connor Wickham another chance at goal.

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew: "I'm disappointed the six-game winning run has come to an end - at some point it had to.

"It was a tight game - they had a major break on the goal. It probably decided the game. We tried to push the best we could."

  17. Postpublished at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 29 November 2014

Patient build-up play from Jose Mourinho's side. Sunderland's players are struggling to get a touch of the ball. A huge roar erupts as the ball rolls out for a home throw.

Chelsea are playing a 4-2-3-1 formation with Eden Hazard, Oscar and Willian just behind Diego Costa. That's Costa who has scored 11 goals in 10 league games.

    Former England midfielder Jermaine Jenas
    Final Score

"Manchester United were the most comfortable I have seen them so far this season. Whether that was because Hull were poor, or as Robin van Persie said, United upped the tempo, I'm not sure. A lot of people had been writing off Van Persie, but he said himself he needed the goal. Hopefully he can go on and build on his form now."

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal on the injury which forced off Angel Di Maria after just 13 minutes: "He did not come off as a precaution - he is out of Tuesday's game against Stoke. It's too close.

"But we will have to wait and see how bad it is. We will know more tomorrow."

On Wayne Rooney, who limped off at the final whistle with an ankle knock: "He said to me he is fine to play against Stoke."
