Chance for Newcastle to hit back almost immediately! Somehow French striker Emmanuel Riviere, who has netted just twice since arriving from Monaco in the summer, heads wide of the Spurs goal when unmarked. Unforgivable.

New haircut does the trick! Raheem Sterling heads Liverpool ahead at the climax of a cracking move. Lazar Markovic swings in a ball from the left, opposite wing-back Jordan Henderson heads back across goal and little Sterling is free to guide it deftly into the corner. Brendan Rodgers punches the air. Relief.

David: If Liverpool do not win tonight they should replace Rodgers with Tony Pulis. At least we could defend.

Carl, Nuneaton: Good open start. Liverpool will be well suited to the Championship.

"You never want to see a young keeper making a mistake and costing his team a goal. But it's part and parcel of being a goalkeeper. It's how he bounces back from it that matters."

Horrible moment for Newcastle youngster Jak Alnwick. The keeper makes a complete hash of a routine corner, there's nobody near him but he juggles the ball like an English slip fielder, popping it at the feet of Spurs midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, and he takes advantage, hooking home from four yards out. That's his first goal for Spurs.

"That was unbelievable by Moussa Sissoko. He's been Newcastle's turning point since returning in midfield and making those driving forward runs. Not only did he force Michel Vorm into that save, he then got back to his own penalty area as Tottenham countered. He's got great energy."

"The front three from Liverpool have looked really bright. And the pitch looks lovely. Lovely conditions, a proper footballing night.

"Steven Gerrard is getting on the ball and dictating play. Irrespective of how old he is, if you give him time and space he can still pass that ball well."

Harry Kane battles for possessionImage source, PA

Jay, London: Harry Kane has got to get an England call-up soon. Has got power, strength and knows where the net is. Could be lethal alongside Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck or Daniel Sturridge. And I'm an Arsenal fan.

Newcastle badly missed the suspended Moussa Sissoko at Arsenal at the weekend but he's back tonight - and almost back with a bang. He drives from halfway, goes all on his own before lashing one in from 30 yards and Michel Vorm has to be alert to parry it clear.

Is Raheem Sterling's best position at the apex of a 3-4-3? I'm not so sure. There's a lot of play breaking down when it comes into him, the latest one seeing an elaborate backheel easily read by the Cherries back four.

But Liverpool's midfield play has been much more like it. Steven Gerrard seeing lots of the ball.

"Bournemouth are quite happy for Liverpool to have it at the back. They are not putting them under much pressure at all. But when Liverpool advance in the Bournemouth half the hosts need to be careful not to give them too much space.

"Liverpool are playing well around the box and have got their shots off, but Bournemouth have blocked them all."

Liverpool playing well now, moving the ball sharply with their attacking players swapping positions at will. Philippe Coutinho drifts out to the left and then cuts on to his right foot, shooting hard and low but it's well blocked.

Fee Dizzle:, external Streamlined haircut from Raheem Sterling. He's going to put in a performance tonight.

Aaron Mortimore:, external Bournemouth to win 3-1. It's going to be a funny, but good game for neutrals as well!

Noel Fitzpatrick:, external Any chance a keeper on view tonight, Michel Vorm, might join Liverpool in January?

It is still goalless at Aggborough, but only because of some sensational defending from Worcester's Tyler Weir.

A corner from the left wing is glanced goalwards by Scunthorpe captain Neal Bishop, the ball goes underneath home goalkeeper Nathan Vaughan, but Weir throws himself to the ground to block the shot. He also somehow clears the close-range follow-up from Paddy Madden. The hosts survive, but only just.

"I think Nacer Chadli could have squared that to Harry Kane, or at least he should be shooting across the keeper. If the keeper parries it out then Kane has a tap in."

  16. Postpublished at 19:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2014

Good play from Tottenham as Andros Townsend slides in a pass down the outside of the full-back and Nacer Chadli runs on to it, he fires it in hard and low but Jak Alnwick gathers it in.

  17. Postpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2014

Liverpool getting a foot on the ball more often now, with Lucas doing a good job of keeping the ball simple. Bournemouth remain dangerous on the break, as Kolo Toure has to stretch to head clear a decent cross.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2014

It has been a miserable domestic season for Borussia Dortmund as they find themselves 16th out of 18 teams in the Bundesliga with only four wins from their first 15 league games.

    WolfsburgImage source, Getty Images

Well, it is currently 1-1 in their home match against Wolfsburg. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put the hosts ahead after only eight minutes from Ciro Immobile's cross, before ex-Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne equalised direct from a free-kick.

  19. Postpublished at 19:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2014

Spurs seeing plenty of early ball, with Nacer Chadli floating a dangerous ball across the box but Newcastle stand firm.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:52 Greenwich Mean Time 17 December 2014

Excellent start to the game at Dean Court. Bournemouth should have scored moments ago but now Liverpool go close, as local boy Adam Lallana rifles in from 20 yards and Artur Boruc makes a one-handed stop of real quality. Steven Gerrard crashes in a shot from 25 yards which is well blocked.

    End-to-end stuff so far.
