  1. Postpublished at 22:53 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Revolution clawed their way back into this match through Chris Tierney. But Tierney is the culprit for the Galaxy goal, straying yards behind the rest of his team-mates to play Keane onside.

Can Revolution pull something else special out of the bag?

  2. GOALpublished at 22:49 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

He's hardly been involved. He's missed chances when he has. But this is why Robbie Keane is the MLS's MVP!

The Revolution defence goes walkabout and the Galaxy forward is presenting with a clear run at goal. And Keane makes no mistake - calmly stroking past the Revolution keeper.

Cue that all-so-familiar cartwheel and gun-firing goal celebration!

  3. Postpublished at 22:48 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

A whoop of delight (or is that hope?) goes up from the Galaxy crowd as their hero Donovan stands over the set-piece. But the US record goalscorer cannot dip the ball over the wall and back down on target.

  4. Postpublished at 22:47 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Galaxy long-throw expert Dan Gargan causes all sorts of bother in the Revolution defence, away keeper Bobby Shuttleworth flapping badly at his bomb into the box. His defence bail him out before conceding a free-kick on the edge of the area. This is Landon Donovan territory...

  5. KICK-OFFpublished at 22:44 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Here it is - the final 15 minutes of play in the 2014 MLS season. Back underway in the second half of extra-time...

  6. Postpublished at 22:43 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

One last huddle for Revolution's players. One last tie of his bootlaces for Galaxy's retiring hero Landon Donovan.

Fifteen minutes for someone to find a winner. Otherwise it is *gulp* the dreaded penalty shootout.

  7. HALF-TIME OF EXTRA-TIMEpublished at 22:41 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Nope, that final minute passes rather uneventfully.

Plenty of nerves. Plenty of tension. This cliff-hanger of a MLS finale is teetering on the edge.

  8. Postpublished at 22:40 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

One minute of added time. Can't see either side making a breakthrough in the final few seconds.

  9. GREAT SAVE!published at 22:38 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Revolution substitute Patrick Mullins has proved a handful since coming on - and he almost puts the underdogs ahead. Mullins uses his pace to get behind the Galaxy defence, then sweetly smacks an angled shot goalwards. But Galaxy keeper Jaime Penedo quickly drops low to his right to push clear.

  10. Postpublished at 22:35 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Woo hoo! We have a shot. Revolution midfielder Jermaine Jones is our saviour, driving forward before skewing an 18-yard shot past the left-hand post.

  11. Postpublished at 22:34 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Not one attempt on goal in this tedious opening period of extra-time. Looking like a survival of the fittest.

  12. Postpublished at 22:32 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Galaxy coach Bruce Arena decides to make a change, perhaps enforced by injury, as midfielder Juninho (not to be confused with the Brazilian who played for Middlesbrough or the Brazilian who played for Lyon) goes off.

He is replaced by Baggio Husidic (not to be confused with Roberto or Dino...).

  13. Postpublished at 22:32 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Galaxy enjoy most of the early possession in extra-time, but are unable to make an incisive pass through the Revolution defence.

  14. YELLOW CARDpublished at 22:27 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Robbie Keane may well be the 'Most Valuable Player' in the MLS - but he isn't playing like it. It has not been the Irishman's day. And it gets worse as hauls down Jermaine Jones to pick up a yellow card.

  15. EXTRA-TIME BEGINSpublished at 22:25 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

So we had plenty of second-half drama. Are we going to see more of the same in the next 15 minutes?

One positive for Galaxy's Landon Donovan is that his career has just been extended by 30 minutes...

Let's recap for those at the back.

Galaxy, bidding for a record fifth MLS Cup, took the lead through Gyasi Zardes and threatened to further add to their tally through Zardes and Robbie Keane.

But Revolution hit back when Chris Tierney netted a late equaliser. And they could have nicked a winner but Teal Bunbury saw his chip come back off the Galaxy crossbar.

All over! At least in normal time. Thirty minutes of extra-time on the way...

  18. Postpublished at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Groans from the Galaxy fans as they claim Robbie Keane is fouled in the penalty box. Not in my book. But they aren't happy - as illustrated by the sound of an unrepeatable chant coming from the home stands.

  19. Postpublished at 22:17 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

Galaxy win a free kick in the Revolution half. But it is over-hit and Revolution keeper Bobby Shuttleworth gathers.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 22:16 Greenwich Mean Time 7 December 2014

A familiar face for the St Mirren and Crystal Palace fans among you. Welsh midfielder Andy Dorman trots on for Revolution.
