Ah, well. The greatest drama came outside Ibrox this evening. Without question, there will be further developments in the battle for the boardroom in the coming days and weeks. For now, I'll call it a day. Thanks very much for logging on to the BBC Sport website. All the best.

Celtic assistant manager John Collins and manager Ronny Deila were at Ibrox but they would not have gleaned much about League Cup opponents Rangers from the short-lived match against league leaders Hearts.

BBC Scotland reporter Brian McLauchlin outside Ibrox

"There are about 600 fans outside the main entrance. There is a police cordon and police horses. One or two board members have been peering down from behind the curtains but it's very peaceful."

BBC Scotland football pundit Willie Miller

"I think the referee has been misled a bit with the undersoil heating. I don't think the referee did enough to test the pitch. You need to turn and throw the ball up and see if it sticks. There will be an investigation."

Anonymous: "Any other conspiracy theorists out there wonder if the lack of effort to clear the pitch might have something to do with the current issues in Govan? The hierarchy might just think that a rearranged fixture will come at a time of higher morale both among the team and the support!"

Anonymous: "Canny believe the game was even on.. All about Rangers getting the cash. Should never have started the game!!"

Bill Mills, Inverness: "BT Sport dictated that game tonite, TV rules."

    Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson

"I think it was the right decision to start the game, but it was becoming worse and dangerous. You need to try to start the game. Sometimes the snow dissipates a bit but that didn't happen tonight. We brought 2,000 fans through and I'd like to thank them. I'm disappointed for them."

    Rangers manager Kenny McDowall

"We couldn't disagree (with the abandonment). There was a lot of preparation for the game. We were looking forward to it."

    BBC Scotland's Tom English

"The embarrassing thing is it stopped snowing at seven o'clock. They had 45 minutes to clear the pitch. There wasn't an effort to do so."

Referee Bobby Madden tells BBC Radio Scotland

"It was the right decision (to start). The fans were inside the ground. I made the final decision based on player safety. The information is forecast to come back on. There was a potential risk of injury. When you see the players running at 100%, you see they are struggling. It was the best decision to start the game and see what happened."

The strange thing is the six-yard boxes are perfectly clear. With some effort, other areas could have been cleared too, but it's debateable whether the whole pitch could have been cleared in time for kick-off.
